As Osman says, it's hard to compare Bumrah to Wasim simply because latter didn't play nowhere near the T20s. But do think had he then Bumrah would be more valuable because unlike Wasim, he wouldn't give you a pressure release ball.

Unfair comparison. Wasim Akram FC = 257 List A = 594 T 20 = 5 Total balls bowled = 120,923 Jasprit Bumrah FC = 64 List A = 114 T 20 = 233 Total balls bowled = 36,889 Long way to go for Bumrah. We will see where he finishes. Having said that. Bumrah is the best bowler across formats in the last 5 years and will remain the best for the next decade.

On the contrary, Bumrah did take those 2 early wickets against Australia in CWC 23 Final,. & He did beat Head a N number of times, Travis head was really lucky + brave to get through that phase & won the WC for Aus,.. Bumrah has been simply sensational in almost every game he turn out for India irrespective of the format. Hes simple invincible & unplayable at times, delivered at so many crucial times for india. His Conversion rate in terms of building the dot balls pressure to take a wicket is just remarkable.

What a ridiculous thing to say. Bumrah has already had more match winning performances than Wasim. Bumrah has won India 2 test series in Australia. What has Wasim won in test cricket? Not to forget Wasim also benefitted from a 1- ball in ODI cricket era and without cameras/tech where he could get away with ball tampering. Bumrah gets wickets with a slower ball yorker in test cricket- no way Wasim had those range of skills.

Jasprit Bumrah is the all-format GOAT of the modern era, a genius maestro of fast-bowling artistry in cricket. Imagine having a bowling average of 20.7 in the toughest format of cricket and already winning 10 SENA matches including back-to-back Test series win in Australia. Not to forget his unreal impact in Ranji, IPL, ODIs, and T20Is. He will go down in history as an all time legend!

I am surprised that no one has spoken about Kuldeep's catch to dismiss QDK. I think, in the context of a cricketing moment, his catch was as important. Kuldeep had time to think about the catch, the context, to fret about " shit , what if i drop this?" and that makes the catch harder.
@nikhiltalgeri59103 күн бұрын
Respectfully, the gap between Bumrah and Akram is a lot narrower than Ahmed Shehzad and Babar. We all say batting is easier now, then by the same token, bowlers had a lot more going for them in Wasim's and Kapil's era . To command the kind of presence that Bumrah does in the 13 rpo , flat tracks, sound bats, small grounds era is legendary...

It's not important what Jaddu actually did, since he operated as an empty signifier for India in this WC. Batters could play more freely knowing that he was still in the pavillion, and bowlers could bowl with a bit less pressure knowing that Jaddu could sneak in an over or two.

Listen, as a pak cricket fan, this is a really bittersweet episode. on one hand, there is ahmer bhai, who has his finger (entire hand maybe) on the pulse of our desi culture. then there is osman bhai, who knows HOW to write about cricket, and who knows what the falooda is pakistani cricket. Usually, a sports team fandom is lucky to have 1 of these guys. We get both of them, at the same time, roughly the same age, doing a podcast during a bleak bleak time for pakistani cricket. its incredibly soul crushing (ok not that much) for me to listen to these 2 speak so passionately about an INDIAN win. dont get me wrong, i am so happy for rohit and co and bumrah for what they have achieved. I am so delighted to see rahul getting his due. And dont get me started on kohli. But it should have been us. Ahmer and Osman should have been taking about Naseems last 2 overs, Saim's career definiing knock in the finals, Rizwan's crazy catch, Babar's on field kaptaani, or Shaheen's early opening spell. But there is nothing, just broken dreams. 2 giants of pakistani culture and cricket talking with so much love about our "professional/emotional/whatever" rivals. So yeah. i will keep returning to batta fast always because its a loving community hosted by these 2. But for once, for once, i want a 1 hour episode, where we are discussing this current lot winning a trophy. Lots of love to india, deserved champions.

Ahmer and Osman.. I am one of those older Indian millennials who remembers how I always wanted ONE Indian bowler who was just Right Arm or Left Arm Fast without a medium attached to it.. You guys with you array of Fast bowlers through the 90s and 2000s and even now would never know this feeling… I still pinch myself every time I see Bumrah pick up the ball that yes India has a fast bowler and an all time great at that. It’s hard to describe what Bumrah means to people of my generation Love the pod

Naqvi bhai, We pull your leg not troll. However, Boom is not Wasim's match. India has produced good fast bowling talent post Srinath, Prasad, Agarkar era beginning with Zaheer. However, India is yet to learn how to develop fast bowling talent into Great Fast Bowling pairs or better, packs. Also, Indian Domestic Cricket scene is yet to leverage Fast Bowling by producing wickets which respond to good Fast bowling. Domestic scene in India is Batting dominated. The Tennis Ball Cricket is Tennis Ball NOT TAPE BALL. Even there, it is about innovative hitting than bowling at express pace.

We tend to overglorify the past. Waseem isn't untouchable. He belongs to an era where cricket wasn't as batting friendly as it is today. He could rely on reverse swing because of 1 ball being used most of the time (1992 being an exception), and let's not forget how easy it was to tamper the ball at the time. Bumrah has none of these advantages and to be such dominating bowler in today's era easily takes him above the likes of Wasim Akram. And yep, i'm saying this as a pakistani

Exactly! Like when comparing batsmen we say that current generation batsmen have it easier then why not apply the opposite foe the bowlers?
