Put it up against a 750 Holley now.. Holley will always beat a Quadra jet and Carter style edelbrock

1 of the most overlooked drag engines ever. Had a 72 XR7 with a built 351C Epic.

When the Hemi was allowed back into NASCAR in 1966, they had a 400ci limit, where everyone else was allowed 427. They still won. They weren't actually banned in '65, but the rules around them in '65 were too limiting to be competitive. They would have been forced to use full size chassis with much heavier weight as opposed to the midsize platforms they used normally. One of the big reasons the 426 was successful in early top fuel was specifically the heat treatment done on the blocks. If Ford had been doing the same heat treat to their Cammer and Boss blocks, Top Fuel might look a lot different today. It was coined the elephant, not only because of it's physical size, but also because you couldn't hurt it. The blocks could take a ton of abuse.

Sounds great! 😎 👍 I bet if you raise the shift points it will keep pulling higher in the rpm! Rock on!

I bought a gasoline tester. It’s just a little tube with a cap on it and it has graduated lines. You put water into the one line and gasoline up to the top. Shake it in about 10 minutes later all the water and ethanol come to the bottom, I have zero ethanol gas.

Question: At 11:12 you put up a graphic saying use 127 for SBF and 132 for BBC. I'm thinking the larger number for BBC has to do with the canted valve angles of the stock head design. So then what number should be used for the 351C Ford, as it also has canted valves? Thanks

When it come to power do you think the carburetors better than the EFI

You do some pretty good videos my brother.. I learn a lot from you let me say this I've been through about 6 carburetors to run right. So I went with a fitech efi my engine is running better but I am still in the process of still tuning it.

I'm struggling with this right now. Not perfect, but in the ballpark I think, Since my 400 hp Chevy small block in my 34 Roadster hot rod get a 25 mpg mileage on highway cruising. Probably much thank's to the 0.5 overdrive on 6th gear as well!

How do I apply the 128 rule, to a SBC with a roots style blower, namely The Blower Shop 192. Thank you! I appreciate the info you and David are putting out.

I wish Ford would atleast have preserved the Town Car and built it past 2011. I know there were structural upgrades were necessary to meet NHTSA and DOT standards. While they were at it, shove in a 5.0 Mustang engine, a new 6 speed automatic and Stability Control

So a LS3 needs a 104 LSA and a striker 402 with LS3 heads needs a 102 LSA. I’m thinking 128 isn’t the magic number for an LS, at least not with rec port heads.

Cleetus mcfarland making 5,000hp with his new engine n he's still going to lean it to make 5,200hp n blow up. But cleetus n his audience loves it. Only makes as much power as u could afford.

In the early 70's a well-known engine builder/racer named Ak Miller did a lot of investigation into mileage. His theory was pretty much the opposite with respect to throttle opening. He reasoned that the greater the throttle opening for a given speed the lower the pumping losses through the engine. One of the reasons, it has been said, that diesels are inherently more efficient that gasoline engines is because they do not have throttles so the pistons are not sucking against throttle blades creating manifold vacuum. What was found to be the most important factor in fuel economy was engine speed. Therefore Ak had full size Fords and Mercury's with rear ends on the order of 2.20:1. Fuel economy was excellent but acceleration was terrible. Fast forward 50 years and now every vehicle has an overdrive transmission. The effect of engine rpm on fuel mileage is dramatic and easily demonstrated. My C8 Corvette has a 5.17:1 rear end. 8th gear is 0.33. If I set the cruise control to 70 mph I can monitor the fuel mileage in each successive gear. 70 mph in 5th gear is about 2800 rpm. MPG is around 17. Shift into 8th, rpm drops to about 1350 and mileage shoots up to 29. I don't know what the relative manifold vacuum readings are in those two scenarios but almost certainly it is less in 8th. Mileage is much better due to less frictional losses and to a lesser extent less pumping losses. The rule of thumb is for maximum economy run at the lowest possible engine speed.

So my street strip 10.3:1 565 BBC with a 2.30 intake should have a 100 LSA? seems really tight. Maybe my math is wrong. I'm looking for a new cam. The current cam specs are 112 lobe sep intake center 108 261 intake duration @ .050 and exh duration 267 @.050 on a 4/7 swap. It made 752 tq @ 4800 rpm on the engine dyno giving it a 1.33 tq per cube. Can you help me get closer to that 1.4? The engine also made 819 hp @6500. Thank you for any help

They will work but will be down 5-10 HP over a TFS specific grind from my testing. I have ran MANY non TFS cams in them with no issue other than the slight difference in power Hope this helps Andy
