I’d love to watch your vid, but if it takes you 10 minutes to tell me how to re-tin a soldering iron tip, forget it!

Lawmakers suck sometimes; banning lead from solder wires was a bad move.

At 8:00, you show how to easily remove the tool by opening the 2 handles; unless you have a different style that I don't know about, that technique does not work. Instead, you must rotate the know counter-clockwise to remove the die and tool from the installed rivnut.

Well maintained tip will last years - the irony of this fact is because of that, I never saw my father tinning a newly bought tip. He got his solders when I was a little kid or even before that - and when he started teaching me how to solder some years later, all the tips he had were nicely tinned. He forgot to mention you have to tin a new tip, and I used one of our "shared" solders for ten something years. When I got me my own one, it was a total shitshow. The tip wasn't accepting tin, got blackened, and so on. Thinking it's a crappy Chinese tool, I scrounged myself some used kit manufactured somewhere in the 80s, and obviously, it came with tinned tips, so it worked - so I was totally convinced humanity has lost the art of making soldering irons and if you want to have one that works, it has to be as old as you. I learned about preparing the tip after more than 30 years of soldering. The irony. Felt like a total idiot.

I have a transformer in my air handler with 240v input but has a 31,15v output under load. It’s supposed to be 24v. Would this or could this cause my 5a fuse to blow? It’s basically 7.15v too high.

'Cool' stuff man. Thanks for the 'hot tips' ! I never even heard of preparing a solder iron's tip by tinning before use. I only recently thought to get one to connect fan motor wires during servicings at home.

so I have a small power switch on a mechanical keyboard pcb, that is in entirely the wrong place for my needs. My plan was to desolder it, solder wires to each leg ( it has 6) and solder those wires back through the pcb. Is this feasible?

Good video Sir. I would rather recommend a brass tip cleaner instead of stainless steel. Bass is way less abrasive and more gently to the tip's surface.

Can i ask u. Is FINEX lead good to use for components? It say super flux cored solder wire 60/40, or it is just for wire only? Idk which one to use, i just wondering to broke my board

I am having a very hard time with the lead free stuff that we now have to use at work. The component I need to work on can't be heated up too much so they have the iron set at 550 degrees and they want me to move quickly so the sensor will not be ruined by the heat. Also, the buss wire I solder to the sensor to make the legs longer (not sure why they don't just buy sensors with longer leads) will come un-soldered when I try to solder them to the board. With the older stuff it was much easier to say the least. Let's talk about lead in the land fills, I can't use a Tiny amount of lead solder, yet I can go to my outdoor shooting range and empty a mag of 45 acp at a target and then go hunting with 00 buck and spread 7 rounds of lead balls all over the woods for fun. I wouldn't use that much lead in a year or two doing PC Boards as I would in one afternoon at an outdoor range. If the government wants to ban guns all they would have to do is ban lead ammo.

Does cleaning with the plumbers paste create potential problems for electronic applications ? Or is no zinc actually left on the tip after dipping it and using steel wool
