The project is nice and all but what stroke me the most was how mint that Laguna was considering is a 90's car and is the kind off car that people abuse the most for not being expensive nor having a "premium" status.

Hello. Thanks for your video. I think you should have untightened the bolt at the back of the alternator, below. It would have made it much easier. What belt size did you use?

At 3:13 when you want to remove the wheel, don't try to pull it off, but bang it with your fists (pretty hard), that will brake that bond and it would by much easier to remove it.

I'm all good thank you mate. Just life is getting in the way, saving for a house and a second little boy back in November so priorities have changed somewhat for now at least! I'll be back don't worry

what did you use to clean the residual sound deadening?
@ChrisTheCarBuilder2 ай бұрын
Heavy degreaser took most of it off from memory. I think any adhesive remover should work as well, like Loctite 7070 for example works pretty great for stuff like that. One thing I do remember is trying paint thinners and being surprised at how little effect it had.

Nice video mate. Ive got an st170 too, absolutely love it. Have you done anything to yours? If not your st is quite quick! Ive got an MEpro vvt controller on mine and a Vernier exhaust cam pulley, which is retarded 4 degrees. The cam pulley givea you the power back in the higher revs. Would be ideal for Spa.
@ChrisTheCarBuilder2 ай бұрын
Hi mate yes I did feel a little lacking in power for a big track like Spa! All the can had was a catback resonated Piper exhaust, upgraded brake pads and the rear had lowering springs to level it out. Oh and Nankang NS2R tyres specifically bought new and fitted for Spa. Road legal trackday tyre with good enough wet grip for day-to-day driving. I was always impressed with how much get up and go it had stock. The driver helps a bit as well to be fair 😉😂 sold the car a couple of months after the trackday as had a 2nd boy on the way so needed a more sizeable car. Driving an Octavia now which is ok but I do miss a B road blast in the 170

Have you thought about 3D printing the wing to sell to owners wanting to do replicas (even though there aren't many of these Lagunas left)? This is a build I've planned to do 😊
@ChrisTheCarBuilder2 ай бұрын
I've considered all kinds of options, including taking a mould so I can make batches of fibreglass or carbon fibre reproduction wings. All very expensive though, but I'd love to do it at some point

Can i ask you, is it really that bad with rust on snow? Some people tells me that you cant drive this car in snow becouse rust can very fast destroy it.
@ChrisTheCarBuilder2 ай бұрын
Focuses and a lot of this age fords in general have very poor rust protection on the rear of the car. The boot floor, sills and rear subframes are prone to rotting out. Regular underbody jetwashing in winter to get the salt off the car helps protect it

This appears the same as my wife's 08 Honda fit. I found another video on KZfaq that is completely wrong, showing a spring tensioner (which the 08 doesn't have). I believe her 2013 fit did though. Thank you though, she's just passed 120k so it's definitely time. I know what I'm doing Thursday 🔧

Dont use Bosch or Motorcraft spark plugs on these, it will run rough and sluggish. Especially with those crappy Motorcraft plugs! These Zetec engines runs excellent on the Beru copper Ultra spark plugs.

Nice video. Thanks for posting. It helped me a lot. When I came to pulling the pulley back on, I found it easy with the wheel off. Then-while literally hugging the car-I could reach under the pulley with my left hand to hold the pulley in position while turning in the nut from the top with my right hand. Just thought I'd share that tip. I have big hands and couldn't fit the nut from the top, due to not enough room.
