Hi Giles, are you using a 1L or 750ml pot? I have been using a 2L Bush Pot and finding it too big. Looking to change to a smaller pot.
@gilesbinyonАй бұрын
Hi Dan. In this video the pot is a cheap 1.2L from eBay - but it does a great job and is robust too. Latterly I have had great success with a 750mm titanium pot which cuts down on weight and space but it is still possible to cook a meal (for one). Thanks for the comment too 🙂👍

@@gilesbinyon Hi Giles, thank you for getting back to me. Currently, I have purchased a .750ml stainless steel bush pot. I am thoroughly enjoying traveling lite but right. The only heavy item I now carry is my two(2) 1.5L smart water bottles. Thanks again, Giles.

Hi Giles, I tried this easy feed fire today. I must admit I certainly made life easier in terms of processing fuel. And A little hotter as you say due to the frame. I think I'll have another go. Do you still do this or have you gone back to the normal size wood fuel? Neil
@gilesbinyonАй бұрын
Hi Neil, sorry for such a late reply. I hope you’re finding the ‘easy feed fire’ useful. I certainly do - use it most of the time now. Have also found a cheaper style twig box stove in which longer sticks can be fed into - an even smaller version of the easy feed fire but requiring almost constant feeding unfortunately. Thanks for the comment and happy camping to you 🔥🏕️👍
@NeilYoung-hh7neАй бұрын
@@gilesbinyon good to hear you're still using the easy feed. Out of interest which twig stove do you use now? I'll take a look. Neil
@gilesbinyonАй бұрын
Hi Neil - hoping you are well. Yeah, I have had some success with the Chinese ‘af artisan’ which is just a titanium exact copy of the Lixada stainless steel. (These are the 128mm square base X 162mm height). The stainless steel version seems better quality but is, of course, heavier. Sadly they do need a lot of tending/feeding like all ‘box stoves’ - but longish sticks can be fed into the rather large feeding holes. Cheers - happy camping 🏕️👍

Hi Giles, another quick question if I may. How did you make the fireguard in front of your groundsheet? Details about materials and the pins into the ground. Thanks for this video....very authentic
@gilesbinyon3 ай бұрын
Hello again Neil. Yeah, the fire guard is just thin aluminium plate very similar the windshield/reflector. I made the 2 sheets approximately the same size as a windshield panel so they pack in the same little pouch. So about 25cm by 8cm. Cut them a little longer to allow to bend the ends around an M5 bolt or heavy nail. Then you can thread a cut-down barbecue skewer (20cm) through each end to secure to the ground. You can spray them green if you like too (stove paint for the heat). Cheers 🔥🏕️

Hi Giles, new to your page but I've learnt a lot from your videos so thank you. Appreciate your not posting but could you explain how you made the frame for the Siberian log flame and the materials you used. Kind regards
@gilesbinyon3 ай бұрын
Hey Neil thx for watching the vids. Yeah, the frame for the sticks is just a couple pcs of 28cm long, M5 threaded bar. One end of each is filed to a blunt point and also a couple of wing-nuts screwed on each too. The cross support pc is a 20cm bit of strap spring steel (any steel bar reasonably stiff would do). A couple of 6mm slots close to each end allows the threaded bar to attach and fix by tightening the wing-nuts 😊👍🔥🏕️
