Every time I start looking at the night sky through telescopes or even camcorders...I start having these really wild and vivid dreams that won't let up for years! Maybe it's time again.

Celestron power seeker 127 is a hobby killer, a terrible choice due to its birds Jones design

I tell you what! You are going to buy a laser collimator. Doing your method outdoor is too fiddly with pieces of paper and stuff.

I picked a used DS2090 and the Autostar isn't very accurate despite 2 star alignment. The mount is too low and shakes too much when focusing. The stop in the tube was stopping the scope to 80mm so I moved it further down the tube. Moved the scope to a Celestron Heavy Duty Alt/AZ mount which is much steadier. What was really strange is the objective was flipped causing bad images at high magnification. I wouldn't recommend the scope based on the mount. Great video.

I don't understand the reason why you add powerseeker 127eq in the list 🤔🤔🤔. Once I owned this terrible scope. It is a hobby killer. It is very difficult to collimate and it never stay in place. It comes with low quality focuser and finderscope. Even to adjust the finderscope is a challenging task for this scope. It comes with 4mm eyepiece that gives 250x zoom and 3x barlow lens both are useless. The scope can't provide such high magnification (Celestron knows that). Celestron is cheating the customer. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCOP!!!!

Thank you so much for pointing out the specific limitations for the Power Seeker. I have this telescope and will consider your valuable feedback if I ever do a review of it in the future. Clear skies!
@davidphillips84855 ай бұрын
Just remove the internal Barlow lens from inside of the focuser draw tube 🔭. I never use the Barlow lens should be 25-60 power per inch diameter of the objective lens

Powerseeker or astromaster telescopes are actually not recommend for beginners. They are actually on many telescope black lists. There are much better telescopes like Skywatcher or Orion for the same price.
@Astro_Ape5 ай бұрын
I'd love to add a PowerSeeker 127 to my growing scope collection. I currently own 6 scopes ranging from a 2.8" f/6 ED doublet to a 12" f/4.9 Dob, but I believe the 127 would feel a niche role that I'm missing in my scope storage room at the moment.... a trash can!! That's right, I'd love to find a Celestron PowerSeeker 127 or even a 114 to turn into a small telescope themed waste basket for my gear room.

My 8 x 50 RACI finder has crosshairs. While the intersecting point is in the center of view, the actual crossing "hairs" are not in line with the finder. Is this normal and of little significance, or is there a way to rotate the crosshairs?
@NewAstronomer6 ай бұрын
That sounds like a defect in the finder scope but should be of little significance.

HI, What do you think about Mounting it on an AQ mount, and which one would you recommend for Intellescope 10 inch Dobsonian(Orion Skyquest?
@NewAstronomer6 ай бұрын
I suppose you could try to mount it as long as the mount can support the weight and you're okay using a step ladder to look through the eyepiece :)
