Well we are still working on it but I hope to get a 'usable' engine later this week and wrap this project up as I'm tired of looking at it. Thanks for sticking with me and all the great comments on the previous video.

Funny how you have changed so much Eric. You sounded so sad in your older KZfaq videos. You didn't even have heat in your old shop? I can see the steam😡from your breath. I'm glad you kept making videos. Your seam much happier today. 😃

@ProjectCarTV Didn't go any farther than what was in the video but the scoring on the counterweight would indicate that there are probably metal parts loose somewhere inside the engine causing it to bind, perhaps the thrust bearing.

@blazingtonight1 As for fuel consumption there are a lot of things that could come into play here, start with diagnosing any check engine lights you might have and then look to the basics like plugs, wires, air filter, and tire pressure. If you don't find anything there then look for vacuum leaks and check the output of the coolant temp sensor as this is one of the most important sensors for fuel economy.

@bossthadal Not really, perhaps a little smoke. Transmission fluid and engine oil are very similar, transmission fluid has more detergents in it that can be beneficial in breaking up a rust ridge caused by an engine that has sat unused for a while.

@vigorstyle916chino Altering the suspension would be costly and time consuming, what you describe sounds like a damper problem so I would start by replacing the shocks. I would also check your tire psi as if they are overinflated it may exhibit the same symptom if they are.

@djcatdog525 Not exactly, if you didn't do any machining then your 'rebuild' may not last as long as you might think, it's not just about replacing parts it's also about making sure the clearances are correct between them and for that a qualified machinist is your best friend. You also need to consider the time it took you to do the rebuild, if time is money then you have to factor that into your $650, a 20hr rebuild at $40 per hour (cheep) is another $800 for a total of $1450.

Eric, you are a stand up guy! I love your videos! It takes a real man to man-up to his mistakes, and you get an extra man-card points for that! If anyone ever wrenched, then you WILL know! I have the same truck, but an 03 with the 4.7. My truck runs fine so far, but watched for future reference and am thinking about buying one, then dropping an engine for my son. I learned sooo much! On the first engine being bad: I would've expected the junk yard to try it out.

@Begbucks Water doesn't belong in an engine, especially in the combustion chamber. Yes ice melts and turns into water but water is not compressible and if you start an engine with water in the cylinder you will bend or break a connecting rod. Would you risk it?

@jialunjiao It may be coolant from the water pump. You can verify this by pressure testing the system and observing the area where you suspect the leak from. I cover this procedure in the Diagnosing an Overheat video. Good luck.

I work on diesel trucks, trailers and reefers. There are many things that the manuals don't tell you. Mistakes are just part of it. People love to tell you what an idiot you are when you make them but had they not known about it they would have made the same mistake. Sometimes I hate working with other mechanics because everybody's an expert. I think it's important to build each other up instead of trashing one another. Love your videos.

Maybe it's time to find a new salvage yard? They don't seem too concerned about the conditions of their engines. A motor full of ice is pretty bad, I don't don't often see stuff like that even at my local PicknPull. For the complainers that say Eric should have checked the engine first, if you have ever worked on cars you know that when on a timeline, mistakes happen. There is no a mechanic alive that hasn't made mistakes! Appreciate the videos Eric.
