Cut a thin cloth into a 11.5 inch circle, punch a 1/4 inch hole in the middle and use as a platter mat. You won't believe the difference it makes. Tames the bright top end of B&O turntables.

Hi Chris, Nice find. I installed many, many of these in systems when they were new. Always liked the sound of their cartridges and speakers. This is the last series and so it had their best last effort at cartridge design. MMC 1-5, with 1 being the best and 5 the least expensive. I am fortunate enough to have an MMC1 (with adapter for normal arm mounting) in a Revox linear tracker, which still sounds great. B&O had a liner tracker in this series also, the TX2. (Tangential, vs. Radial arm)

Really could use one in my living room right now. Fond memories. Shame no one makes turntables on a par with those any longer.

Fantastic! I actually found one of these at the thrift several years ago for $8. LOL!! The cartridges are crazy expensive. But, nifty turntable. Beautiful looks. I plan on selling mine. I prefer my Technics. I can switch records around a lot easier.

I retrofitted my rx2 to a P mount cartridge because my tonearm was bad. (internal short, broken micro wires.) it works perfect with an audiotechneca cartridge. The adjustments on the inside also can set positions of the arm and an atiskate is on the bottom...those cartridges go for 9 hundred dollars...so you got an incredible bargain.

The cartridge you fixed is very rare. MMC 5 I think. These are next to impossible to find today. There are after market replacements, but real expensive.

Chris, will the turntable spin without a record sitting on the platter (I don't have a record handy)? If I push cue, it spins for a few seconds and turns off just like you describe, however the needle doesn't move at all (I'm assuming because it doesn't sense a record, but I'm not sure). my uncle gave me the same exact turntable and wanted your opinion before I start looking under the hood. thanks. bret

You said you got that Bang & Olufsen for $6. I got my Pioneer PL-L70 linear tracking turntable for $5. Only a $1 difference between a couple of high quality turntables.

The B&O turntable cartridges are not moving coil. They are moving iron and work with a standard MM phono stage. See sound-smith.com to get replacements. I have a TX2 linear tracking and put a soundsmith SMMC3 on. Sounds great. The B&O cartridges are here: www.sound-smith.com/cartridges/boall.html

I have a B&O Beogram RX2. When I press play the tonearm moves to the record and begins to play, however, the tonearm will not follow the record. Also when I cue the tonearm and move it to an inside track the tonearm lifts itself and moves to the first track where it again get hung up. Any recommendations will be most appreciated. ( I haven't used the turntable in more than 20 years).

They also play very small records like "Hip pocket records" Smaller than a CD and run at 45 RPM. Most of the time the small record will run all the way through without tripping the reject. (Plays well into the label area without a hitch). COOL TABLE for six bucks???? WOW I would have grabbed it

Oops, almost forgot. There are linear tracking even though they do not have a slide type town arm. They are computer tracked and will play inner start records (Technics linear tables will not run inner start, they just skip). Have one

What happens with a 12 inch that runs at 45,or a 7 inch that runs at 33 1/3?
@themikerider5 жыл бұрын
For this function, there are separate buttons to request 33 1/3 or 45 speeds (next to the cue button) which will override the auto-selected speed (which is going to be correct in 99% of the time).

Only B&O would build a belt drive turntable that looks cheaper than a Technics belt drive, but more expensive than a direct drive. The proprietary stylus is lame too. I can get a nice Audio Technica 1/2" or P-mount cart for that price! Is there any way to override the auto detect system if you have a 33.3rpm 7" record or 45rpm 12" record?
@cassio29996 жыл бұрын
acording to the manual you can override auto speed eg. 12" by pressing play and then the 45 button

I never liked these turmtables The cartridge is very expensive to replace . The last I seen it cost over 200.00 dollars to replace and you can only use there cartridge from Bang and Olufsen . Its moving coil too not MM .
@StopMoColorado5 жыл бұрын
Actually, it's Moving Iron, which is super to both MM and MC. Peter Ledderman of Soundsmith rebuilds these cartridges and also licenses the tech to build his own Moving Iron ("Micro-Cross") carts, which are very, very hard to beat for the money.
