Thats 3 different devices so a Windows PC, Xbox Colsoles and atm Android mobiles/pads - Nowhere in this conversation does there need to be playstation for Phil to 'Keep his word' - And the fact that with gamepass/xcloud all 3 devices are now covered id say he has kept his word quite well... So given that i would not be surprised if some future Bethesda games are timed exlcusives while the huge ones ie: Elder Scrolls and Fallout might be fully exlusive system sellers...

For me the difference between a Roguelike and Boardgames, Sports etc. like the Scoop Crew mentioned is that you normally finish the latter in one „sitting“. Whether you win or loose, you have still played through the whole game and „seen the end“. What makes Roguelikes daunting for many people is that you could fail over and over again at the same boss or whatever and den‘t necessarily get any sense of progression or achievement from run to run. That‘s where Justin‘s point regarding importance of permanent progression systems comes in, I guess, so you are more likely to progress further each run.

No matter how many people are clicking on the Amazon website to pre-order a console, in the amazon backend (AWS), the orders always get processed in a queue. So whoever clicks first gets it first. The database is then updated to reflect that and the website displays the latest state of the pre-orders from the database. When you see the webpage showing the console is not available, it's probably because the queue is full or the server is busy updating the database with all the pre-order requests from the queue. The only thing you can do really is just keep clicking the checkout button lol.

Microsoft deciding to not release games on the PS5 does not go against their values. When they release games they go on Xbox, PC, and XCloud. That's a lot of variety in devices that you can play on.

I have to admit maybe I haven't given Rogue Like (randomly generated) a long enough chance because I like to find out what I did wrong and get better at a specific task. Maybe if I played Spelunky frustratingly for a week, I'd learn to love it. Good rant, Dameon.

You've got to assume that any unannounced titles without pre-existing publishing deals will be Xbox/PC exclusive. I full expect Doom 3, Wolfenstein 3, Fallout 5 and Elder Scrolls 6 to be Xbox/PC exclusive. They didn't need to spend $7.5 billion dollars to buy timed exclusivity or get day 1 gamepass releases.

When I searched for a PS5 on PS5 preorder day on Amazon and I would get PS4 and Pro pages come up and no PS5 page. I could only get to through a special link. Same thing happened for me with the Xbox Series X.

Totally agree with Justin on rogue-likes. I need some sort of permanent progression or I'm not interested. I did not care for Spelunky at all but I love Rogue Legacy to death.

You guys continue to rock at this show! I love listening/watching every week! This current scoop crew is simply the best there is. I love hearing their thoughts and insights. To me, Roguelike games are NOT the same as just starting over in any other game because you don't go through the exact same sections! The procedural generation is what throws me off. The gamer doesn't learn to the same extent at all; it just takes soooo much longer with the randomness. It's frustrating to see a run end because of bad luck, like finding the hardest enemies in back-to-back sections (that's just an example). Memorizing where a big jump is in a 2-D platformer is an important part of a gamer's progression and experience. Taking that concept of level design out of a game just means you're playing a random mess that you hope lines up the levels/enemies in a way that you've been progressing to handle. Plus, you might not have to go against the hardest parts every game since it's random, so even beating it might have an asterisk....and if you say "you'll eventually see the same guys enough to know what to do," etc. then what's the point of the Rogue element, anyway? Now, if they made a Roguelike game where you still keep your upgrades, etc., for each run, but the path was identical each time, I actually think I'd interested in that. Then you could measure how well you did by how little "help" you needed, or by beating it in fewer runs (or, as Sam mentioned, the high score element could still have merit to it).

5:01 MS is in the platform game, not the 3rd party publisher game. When they say "more than one device" they mean devices on their platforms: Windows PCs, Xbox, and anything that runs GamePass streaming (currently Android). So unless PlayStation will allow gamepass (they wont), then they probably aren't getting Microsoft (Bethesda) games.

This first segment along with all the next gen console news (including Nintendo), got me feeling like, gaming wise, we about to repeat history of the Wii, 360, PS3 era.

I bet next year for Zelda Nintendo is going to launch 64 for Switch Online, which is why you can only get Mario until March. Xbox and Sega were always a good match imo. Anybody who knows the history knows how closely linked the fall of Dreamcast and the rise of Xbox were, and the days of getting Jet Set Future, Panzer Dragoon Orta + HD remasters of Guardian Heroes and Radiant Silvergun were so great. I'd kill for them to get whoever handled Guardian Heroes HD working on other lost Saturn games like Legend of Oasis, Dragon Force 1 & 2, Three Dirty Dwarves, Dark Savior, Panzer 1/2/Saga, Silhouette Mirage etc. Unlikely, but I can dream.

Phil Spencer has never made any comments that even hint at wanting to turn MS into a 3rd party publisher for Sony. Play where you want refers to Xbox, PC, Phones and tablets. I will be shocked if anything other than ESO and Fallout76 come to PS5 beyond prior commitments.

$7.5 billion is "all your base are belong to us" money not "hey can we get these titles on Gamepass while you also sell them on PS" money. Only way any of those future games see PS is if Sony allows Gamepass on PS5.

I want to explain Microsofts mstrategy - they do not care about console sales , there’s 3bn gamers world wide more than half on mobile , so they want u to buy games pass and game on your phone, pc or Xbox , they don’t care about playstations install base, in terms of exclusives and Phil not liking them the games will be on Xbox , pc and xcloud so they won’t be exclusive, but they won’t be giving Sony a 30% cut for free of the games they just paid 7.5bn for.

Totally agree with the Series X vs PS5 preorder comment. I planned 100% PS5 3 weeks ago, but now I'm 50/50 PS5 and 75% Series X because of game pass. I hope they keep the price low or offer breaks on 6 month/12 month subscriptions. For casuals, I feel like Series X or S is a way better value proposition now. Want to try a game on a weekend, but not commit $70 to it, game pass. I'll likely keep PS5 for exclusives, but can hold off for sales on games. $70 is too much for my hobby money. Fine if it is a 60 hr quality experience, but 6-8 hrs plus a multiplayer mode, that is way too much. I feel like Sony (and I've been a Sony fan), is really doing a poor job communicating value apart from their game pipeline.

The problem I see the series x having is there are more pc gamers than ps and xbox combined if all the games are coming to pc day one why would I need a series x? 3070 will be the same price 🤷‍♂️

Gamers are spoiled these days. No one ever complained about started Sonic or Mario from scratch back in the day. When you died it's back to 1-1 and everyone was ok with that.

Other industries done do the exclusive move? What about HBO getting Game of Thrones exclusively, Netflix getting Stranger Things or The Witcher? They're exclusive and if you want both, you need to subscribe to both.

I've been mildly curious why people often have to leave IGN shows before they're over. Is it hard to find a one hour block that fits 4 peoples work/life schedules?

.......I don't really post my thought's on YT all that much but I cannot sit hear and listen to people I very much respect the opinions of when it comes to knowledge/facts! But to state/agree that the PS5 is an ugly design...??? I'm so "ugh!" inside because one can clearly see the PS5 is a slick & sleek futuristic looking design that aims for a "Hybrid mixing of PC & Console" power design! If they would really think about it it's all about "technical-evolution" as technology within game consoles are evolving more and more like gaming PC's it only makes logical sense that one should desire and admire not only the inner guts of a console but the outer shell as well. But one could assume that Tina, Daemon, Justin & Sam do not really have much love/passion for what's inside the box... rather what matters to them is "Oooo how/what can my console do for my awesome looking pad I live in" I understand that there are people who have gaming rooms that are pimped out like the 80's & 90's era! and it's very colorful and a teenage vibe to them, But the Sony consoles have always been pushing that "non-looking common toy-box" design and how can you not absolutely love & admire that forward thinking! = meaning not to look like (SNES & SEGA) toy-boxes! So to sum it up I guess I have to think about it from their points of view... If it's a game console "only" then it needs to look like a nintendo, sega, xbox360 toy play-thingy! I get it... I just cannot understand it when there already are companies doing that for them... they need Sony to do it also? I don't know but it's a hard pill to swallow!

I've heard a lot of people taking crap, saying that they have no need for an Xbox since they have a good Gaming PC. Well now, it's definitely gonna be a put your money where your mouth is situation, b/c I have no doubt that it will take a pretty strong machine to run things like Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, etc. So people will have to build a better rig, or buy an Xbox.

as more networks create their own streaming services, you are definitely working in exclusivity that you have to pay to watch.

Nintendo can put Breath of the wild on PC, PS4 and Xbox and instantly make boat loads of cash but they'll NEVER do that. So I think for these console companies video game unit sales are not the end game. Forcing people into your ecosystem is the end game. So Xbox doesn't have to allow these future Bethesda games on their competitors. I believe they probably won't.

I always hate the Tomb Raider exclusive example. Xbox did that, got killed for it, and now they are always do "Console Launch exclusives", yet Sony still gets away with the "Exclusive" title......c'mon....
