You have great eye-accessing cues. For instance, when you are thinking about something you did in the past, such as manipulating someone you didn't care about, your eyes go to your right. When you have a memory of something that happened to you, your eyes go to the left. When you talk about being manipulated through curiousity, your eyes go up and to your left, which leads me to believe that this manipulation led to a good experience for you and the curiousity you satisfied was pleasurable.

Great video. Thank you for laying it on the line. I know this guy who has manipulated me in to quite a few things. I finally saw what he is about and I have dropped him. What I hated most was unless you tell him to FUCK OFF HE WOULD KEEP COMING BACK in different ways. I suspect that his life is in term oil because of the way he thinks and untimatly treats people. Thanks again.

On the number one rule - I've said before only because I was being manipulated by fear and guilt. I was so shocked at the lies I was being told, I said those words, and it wasn't about being manipulative, it was about being just plain shocked. Now when you talk about fear, that's the one that get's everyone! So true! Thanks for the upload.

Good video. Very useful for people. It's unfortunate most people live from their ego because they don't know what reality is. You could always become enlightened by focusing on stillness and learning as much as you can without opinion, in other words be honest with yourself. Whatever you think about, you tune into. Just giving my two cents. Hope it helps.

The best way to avoid being manipulated is to stubbornly refuse to comply without much elaboration. A more dangerous game is to pretend to be manipulated, and then actually do the opposite.

I live with a psychopath. She is so good at manipulating people that she has never been punished by the law, despite the fact that she crashed a truck going 100 mph while doped up and possessing narcotics, threw a chair at a policeman after having been arrested for breaking and entering, got a speeding ticket for 120 mph and arrested for possession again, and stole $500 worth of clothes and makeup from walmart and got caught. Her power is in making you think things are YOUR idea.

I have a relative who is very uptight and angry. I don't want to write them off but this has been going on since 1968, which is a long time. It's manipulation. With their friends It's always the other person's fault. With me it's put downs, sarcasm, and putting me on the defensive. I've just learned to live with the fact that you can't fix a relationship that's always been broke. Time to move on.

My ex lives in a different country. When I moved out, she promised she would help me move my things. I have no other way of doing it, but now she says she won't do it. It's not guilt manipulation when I tell her it's her obligation and she owes me, right? I mean she did promise.

There's no need to categorize different manipulative tactics; all you have to know is that if you feel uncomfortable with a request, you are probably being manipulated. I know someone who is master manipulator, and I have told him in his face to stop using manipulative tactics....those exact words! Stick to the Judge Judy approach of " don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining".

Get Anyone To Do Anything by David J. Lieberman PhD. What is manipulation? Doing something because of an emotional response. 7 Tricks... 1. Guilt 2. Appeal to the ego 3. Fear...making me act based on fear. 4. Curiosity 5. Being liked (fear again) peer pressure? 7. Love (If you love me....) I am missing one. THANKS for recommending and putting this up! It DOES help.

another way they do it is by pretending to care by asking u to explain a problem to them, then repeatedly choosing not to understand. whether this is their stupidity or ignorance to what is right, it goes against their morale code, & this is why they choose not to understand. this allows them to manipulate u in the process. its their game.dont play.

My father was a mean controlling man. HE ran women all the time and would come home and make my mother feel like she was the cause of it. He would walk over 10 children using them for doormats to get what he wanted. He would get on me and stare at me and it made me so I could not look people in the eyes. I could not even look women in the eyes. I would talk to someone and look at their eyes for a second and look away for 5 seconds. I could only imagine how the women thought of this.

I called that guy a professional moocher. He would also ask people for things and offer them to another to seem like he was more genuine and then guilt them into repaying him back at a latertime and guilt you into giving him something again by saying well I gave it to so and so and make it seem like he got guilted into giving it to them. Therefore guilting you with anothers guilt.

Then she said I live right across the street, but I got nervous and could not open my mouth. So why would someone get this nervous at a beautiful petite woman who I thought was the nicest woman I ever met? The next day I rode by her house and saw her in the yard, but drove by. Listen honey, You are somebody. If you continue to listen to him, he will drag you to the bottom to the point you will have to pull your socks down to see anything. get away from him. He is going to do this to any female. Your not special. If you leave, he will move on to the next victim. If you can not do this, then change the strategy. You are now on the defensive right? Turn the tables on him and put him on the defensive. Guess how that is done. EASY!!! First you must get control of your own emotions. Never answer another question he has unless it is in the form of a question. In other words, just remember to calmly start your answers with a who what where when or why. But it must be done EVERY TIME!!! No matter what he does or the ANGER HE SHOWS!!! It is that simple. You will feel the power return. But just remember, that this gives you no right to start manipulating people yourself. He subconsciously knows that this type of conversation will defeat him. If he gets violent in any way YOU MUST LEAVE!!!!

Then a few years ago from someone I dealt with--a new age eccentric hippie who looked like a reject from the 1960's who is very intelligent and has a very high consciousness. also said there is no such things as friends. I tend to agree. You only have your family. Everybody else are just aquaintences and they really don't matter. They will always let you down. I've had many friendships and they Never lasted. NONE OF MY FRIENDSHIPS LASTED. IN FACT THEY ALL TURNED THEIR BACK ON ME EXCEPT FOR A FEW. EVEN BOTH SIDES OF MY FAMILY TURNED THEIR BACK ON ME. I AM A 50 YEAR OLD HEALTHY, HAPPY, DECENT INDIVIDUAL. I like what you have to say and I agree but bottom-line its all BULL-SHIT!!!

Is there such a thing as innocent manipulation? Example: a friend wants to manipulate you into leaving your home, because your friends are planning s surprise party for you. You have no special need or desire to leave, but must be manipulated into leaving.... Thwarting such innocent manipulation could make you ...well, that person. (I had to do this for my wife once, for her 50th birthday party. It was ... fun. And in balance, she was glad I manipulated her.)

The thing that happens to me is my fiance stages situations that make me look like the crazy or bad one when I react to him harassing me with irrational questions, accusing me, and insulting me. When i respond and dont like the treatment he tells me I am so negative and simultaneasly describes his behaviours and says I AM doing them. He gives clear examples about his behaviour like hes in denial because he projects them upon me. I pointed this out to him but he doesnt seem to see. He also will look to see who is watching when he insults me, almost as if he is trying to see the audience in the scene he made. Of course it looks like me because he will push my buttons with hurtful words and phrases that are mentally and emotionally abusive, but every time he hurts me so much I break down he will look around at his surroundings, almost for reinforcement that HE IS right and it feeds his power. I dont really know what to call that type of manipulation??? but its a trip, and very unhealthy....I dont know how he will ever stop it but I am going to tell his mom who lives out of state to have him go visit her for awile cause he needs HELP.

Like standing beaide you while you pay for food and then sliding it in front of them as if it was far back on the counter and trying to manipulate the cashier to give you the change and then by handing you what you paid for and the change they say " here you go. Can I have some?" As if baing the middleman in your transaction was helpful and deserved a reward.

Another trick from a manipulator goes like this! Why do people say your strange or creepy or offhand, just to mention some of the slights. They always use a second hand reference when addressing you. The best way to deal with this is to ask who these individuals are? Do they actually know you? Did you ask them why they say this about me? How do they know me? What is the connection? Then often the individual backs down because they are just shit stirring in order to manipulate you. I heard of a guy who said this to another fellow who challenged him in this way but could not get a strait answer, as to whom it was that was spreading the lies about him and his family and so he punished the joker quite badly, in fact we, that is some friends and I stooped him from killing him. We later found out that the so called individuals who had told him these lies in fact did not exist. Manipulators don't realise the ricks they are taking unless they do their research into another individual. The guy in question never pulled another stunt like that again, so you can see he certainly ran the gauntlet for his troubles. He actually was a property developer, who wanted to reduce the opposition to his dodgy deals by weakening the integrity of those who may catch him out. Such as the residents in the area. As a mate said to me many months later, that the manipulative smart arse nearly ended up enjoying his profits from a wheel chair. I often wonder just how many manipulative individuals actually know what a danger they are to themselves.
