I really appreciated this video. I watched it hoping my account creation would go smoothly but for whatever reason it didn't. It completely skipped over the activation code part about asking how I wanted it sent. It went right to the activation code page and asked if I received a code. Of course I didn't because it didn't ask how I wanted it sent. It then said it was mailing it to me, so hopefully I receive it. My husband and I have been trying to secure all accounts in relation to our identity since my husband has recently been a victim of identity theft. I sure hope someone hasn't created something already somehow since it skipped right over the one step.

Thanks for this Video. I am turning 65 in July, and I have put off making a social security account because of fear of being blocked out while trying to sign up. I talked to so many that got shut down while in the process of creating a social security account. I hope now I can move forward without fear. After this I need to make my Medicare account abcd, lmnop before I lose my health insurance at work in July. Why do they make the process of getting old so complicated?

I have a quick question, I am going to create an account for my mom, she is 86 years old and she is not much into computer or cell phone etc. I already created email account for her, the question is can I use my cell phone number for my mom's account since she does not have a phone? Their website is a mess & I can't get anyone on the phone. System says I already have an acct but I don't remember my username. Clicked on "Forgot username?" then it asks me for ss# bday etc, entered all of that correctly & it tells me the info is incorrect. I checked the info twice, it's perfect. Also the "Use an activation code" option isn't there like it is on your screen. Annoying!

I am retired and collecting SS. I enrolled on Part A only on 65th birthday (3/2020) and have been on my wife's insurance (company over 20 employees) for about 8 years. I now wany to enroll and Part B and buy Parts D and G. When is the enrollment period using the SEP rule? I would like to start the full Medicare program within the next 3 months if possible. Can you go back add extra layers of security such as a drivers license later in the proces?. I skipped this step and now I cannot figure out how to get back there.

This video needs to be updated. Social Security requires 2 methods for Authentication. A text message isn't enough. I tried unsuccessfully yesterday (March 1, 2023) to understand and use OTP Manager. I used the link on the SS application to get the OTP Manager. I'm using my iMac desktop not my iPhone. The SS application has a QR to scan or a string of numbers to put on the OTP manager "popup." I typed the numbers from SS, 3x different times in the 3 blank bars available on the OTP Manager and nothing happened. I then tried using my iPhone and the SS system said my email or PW were incorrect. They are correct. Then I made more unsuccessful efforts with my iMac & my iPhone. Now I'm reading online about how to use 2-step and watching youtube videos. SS should not assume that your applicants have familiarity with 2-step authentication apps, the terms they use or that it's easy to figure out. Today I'll probably have to call Social Security for help.

My question is I had no problem setting up an online account, when does social security update our accounts or do we have to do that this is about updating a new direct deposit I'm really at that point and I'm already without my Dec income they last advised and reassure me that my Dec n Jan income will arrive in my new chime account . I've already updated my new account at a walk in office which later social security said they showed no records of my being in office in SLC Utah . Can somebody answer this? On older videos to create an SSA account, the form asks for driver's license information and they also prompt you to create a username. On the newer tutorials like this one, you say the procedure is different now. They don't require a username anymore, correct? So when I log into my account, I will only enter my e-mail address or real name? What would I enter other than my password?

Attempting to set us my social security account turned out to be a bad joke. First it wouldn’t allow me to use my Verizon cell phone number because it said that number was “web based VOIP phone service”. Whatever the hell that means. I mean if a Verizon phone is ineligible it’s no wonder why so few eligible people have created an account. Since my iPad has a separate number I tried again using that number but never received the message with the number required to complete my account creation. So I gave up, poured a drink, and was glad that I’m old enough to still get the annual paper statement.

I made an account with SSA and logged in with login ID but it keeps saying Tell us if you requested an activation code.. no I did not request it. I deleted the account and started over again multiple times and every time I log in it keeps telling me the same "Tell us if you requested activation code"... HELP

He left out one step the activation code it will have to be mail to you are you will have to go to your nearest SSA office to retrieved it in order to compete the setup process.

Here's a question...I created an account after September 2021, this year as a matter of fact. I used the Login.gov option to create the account. Due to my son being recently awarded SSI (02/01/2023) and being his full time parent, I'm now needing to use the Representative Payee Portal and I'm told that option should automatically pop up to select my account or the rep payee account. However, from the rep payee portal page, if I just simply sign in it only takes me to my account and doesn't give me the option to select the rep payee account... What's going on here ? Is this because of the 3rd party sign-in process or because I'm not yet listed as his payee or the SSA is processing a payee review I'm waiting on or what ?
