Oils are extremely calorie dense. Cutting out a majority of the oil in your diet is more than enough to control weight gain, imo.

Exactly! Oil is the MOST calorically dense food.

Don't consume oil. But have some high fat wholefoods like nuts or avocado. We need a bit of fat to enhance nutritional absorption e.g. lyposene in cooked tomatoes with a bit of fat increases absorption.

Dried fruit is also relatively calorically dense.

I went the extreme route with this years ago. I basically tried following Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s advice, but I ended up dropping 35lb down to a very thin 130lb (I’m about 5’9”). I I transgressed because I was quite thin and wanted to gain weight, but I allowed some unhealthy habits to creep in… before I knew it, many years later, I arrived back at my old weight. So now I get to do this all again! Similar concept to what I did before, but this time mostly starch, like McDougall’s “Maximum Weight Loss” plan.

Thank you. I have been vegetarian for 4 year and just went vegan, but I really cant lose any weight. Ive been struggling to NOT loose weight. Its so so hard to find any info on gaining weight on a whole food plant based diet.

you have a math error on the spinach calorie pic. You put a 2 instead of a 1. for the 104 calories in a pound of spinach. You wrote 204

He said 204, he probably meant 104 because bananas do have 4x more calories.

Whoops! It should be 104 calories for the pound of spinach. In other words, 1/4 of the calories in a pound of bananas. Thanks for catching that typo!
