First off, naturally CIG finally drops their Q&A, but regardless, I wanted to go over many of the issues people are saying they see and to maybe calm some nerves for those Anvil pilots. Lets speculate on the usage of this ship an d WHY it needed to be as much a swiss army knife as it is. What are your thoughts on the MISC Odyssey? Did you get one? Did you get a CCU? Are you simply looking forward to crewing this one? Whats your prediction on it being "Flight Ready?" What is the feature you are most curious about?

I'm glad someone is staying level headed. The reaction to the Odyssey blew my mind. I can't imagine the same reaction to a one seat miner with a little more cargo than the prospector. It's important to have things to work towards. Also, how the hell do we still have only 1 single seat miner.

Best layout and detailed overview of the Odyssey out there! I'm a Carrack fan and I don't plan on moving to a different explorer ship anytime soon. I agree that both will have their place and are respectable exploration ships on their own. I don't think we'll see the Odyssey next year, but I think CIG will try. If they can pull it off, then great, but I'm skeptical. All that being said.. I picked up a CCU just in case I change my mind! My biggest concern with the Odyssey is that we might see it in game before the Polaris! I want my shiny space dorito!

I would say that's a safe assumption, and damn it just got buffed. Look for Polaris to just up in Price by Invictus.

Hell yeah! Good vid! This is basically how my Org reacted lol, it’s how we intend to use them both. Together they do make a powerful combo.Unless CIG puts in some pathfinder like things that the Carrack has.

10-thousand thumbs-up for the IT Crowd reference at the top. Totally underrated show. I agree with you, GR. My feeling is that Odyssey and Carrack will synergize well together (and should!). Get used to CIG carefully creating ships that do this. Ships are how they make money--the last thing they want to do is nullify ANY of their previous ships.

When I heard "Carrack killer" followed by "the multitool of ships" I immediately thought "Wait a minute, so which is it?" I'm going to reserve my final judgement until we actually have meaningful Exploration gameplay, but as of right now I'm leaning towards liking the Carrack better. The Carrack just seems like much more of a purpose-built survey expedition ship, like it'd have a specific mission to go do research on a newly discovered planet or scan a sector of space for jump points, whereas the Odyssey has more of that Firefly feel, more of a nomadic mothership that can indefinitely sustain itself.

Great video, Ronin. I will say as well... that seeing the community obsess over this issue has, for me, increased the storytelling value of the Carrack. When it was first released, it was a huge deal. Now, MISC has answered the market demand for ships like the Carrack - so my favorite ship is no longer trendy. Now, it's a sturdy classic. Now, people will look at my ship and know something about me - whereas before, all it said was that I was looking to get onboard with exciting new gameplay. I think that's cool, and I think it makes the Carrack more distinctly mine.

The ship I'd be most inclined to put in the Ody is a 315P. Then you have all bases covered for busting open a new jump point. 315 for making the first passage through, (It's set up for recording passages according to lore) The Carrack for initial scans, then the Ody for the follow-up, with possibly an Endeavor if the Ody turns up something particularly interesting.

True, and maybe in a gold standard pass the 300 series gets the AIR system?? reduce fuel needs? Since that's Origin tech.

Nice vid. Personally sticking to my carrack for its various perks that the Odyssey doesn't have. I am very interested in the modular and drones that will eventually come.

I got one, but I wish it would be able to offload extra hydrogen and QT for storage or refueling "visitor' craft in the bay. Like a mobile oil-rig. I kinda hoped it would be able to refine other materials or the detachable bags of a prospector. To be a base of sorts for deep frontier mining operations and survey ore and planets for the best landing zones with ore/veins for a pioneer to set up on. Then supply said pioneer with refined materials to jumpstart the process. I guess it can still kind of do the thing's I'd to do with it, but it feels awkward to have bags of raw ore in cargo because the onboard refinery can't touch it. if the hanger can squeeze a prospector and a nomad in, I can work with that.

I can see the odyssey trading with a carrack, for services and/or repair/ so on via drones. Maybe even trade raw ore bags for it lol!!!

It may take a year, but I have noticed over the last three years, things they do continue to get done faster, or at least do more in the same time. I hope things continue to ramp up.

People have taken the statement of th Odyssey being a 'Carrack Killer' far to seriously. There is no best ship, every design and model has its place and everyone entitled to their own preferences and opinions. For me personally, I think the Carrack is an awesome ship with great utility, though I never really aspired to own one. The Odyssey however really caught my interest and I will definitely be grinding for it in-game when it becomes available to earn. It's great that all ships have their competitors and rivals, meaning more options and variety for the players. Not having this diversity would make the game less interesting.

imo there isn't much discovery available. the systems will be released too slow. the jump points known or on google in minutes. if IF they had some PG in the mix then finding a jump point would Actually be a thing . with a carrack at best we might be able to find a large concentration of minerals to mine with the drones:? not sure. I have and like my carrack and planned on using it as a base spawn point out in the belt somewhere. refinery ship and my prospector, hope to buy automated turret defenses etc... but all that is later with a persistant pu and meshing. carrack ingame is 26M this could be 35M and I can earn that solo with my prospector playing just 2 hrs a day. one month.

wow i bet theres a lot of melted carracks and the players are now PISSED!!! i kept telling people the 2 ships are not comparable and this is perfect in making me right! its a lot closer to the starfarer than the carrack. comparing the odyssey and carrack to me is like comparing an endeavor to a merlin.... i cant see the 700 dollar value in the odyssey! if they sold it for 300 i would probably get the CCU. on foot refueling is horrible!!!! at least let there be automated. i still think the odyssey be a sweet pirate ship
