What Would Jesus NOT Do?

We always hear about the many amazing things that Jesus of Nazareth apparently did, but nobody ever asks about the things that Jesus supposedly COULD have done, being omnipotent, but either didn't bother to do or didn't think were all that important. You know, things like... reducing human misery and suffering... that kind of thing. (Read on...)

-----------------
It occurs to me that if indeed the miracles recorded in the bible were in fact true, and really did happen... then that only shows Yahweh/Jesus to be an even MORE malevolent and cruel being than we see in the old testament, and that's saying something. If the miracles somehow prove that Jesus WAS in fact a god in human form, but all he could be bothered to do was turn water into wine and heal only a few hundred, or even a few thousand people with his magic saliva, then really - what is the use or good of such a god? Think of what a visiting, omnipotent deity COULD have done - but in this case, apparently, chose not to!!!!!
And this is meant to be that god's main advertisement of its existence! Walking on water in front of a few of his mates, for the benefit of billions and billions of people who, if they don't believe in his divinity and surrender control of their souls to him, will be sent to burn in agony for eternity.
People - DOES THIS RELIGION MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL?????

*** VIRGIN BIRTHS***
There appears to be some disagreement about which of the virgin births I listed are in fact accurate reflections of religious traditions, especially Krishna, Horus and Mithra.
My main source for that list was : "Shaken Creeds: The Virgin Birth Doctrine, a study of its origin" (2003) by Jocelyn Rhys (Kessinger Publishing). Other sources were "God is not Great" (2007) by Christopher Hitchens (Published by Twelve), and Wikipedia.
I have rechecked these sources in light of the disputes that have come up. I admit to the error of listing Krishna on the basis of the Rhys book- I misread the passage dealing with Krishna. A genuine mistake... However, Hitchens DOES list Krishna as having been recognised as being born of a virgin.
Whilst I admit to the research error on the matter of Krishna and will take greater care next time, I put it to you that it still stands, that by NO MEANS WHATSOEVER was Jesus' birth to the 'virgin' Mary the first ever such miraculous conception ever recorded in a religious tradition. By the time the Jesus story was first written down, the idea of virgin deity-births was OLD, and had been done many, many times, and an omniscient Yahweh would have known this. Even if 50% of my list was put there in error, the point would still stand.
*******************
Inspiration for this one came from a link I was sent, to a website called Ebon Musings. Check this link. A couple of things on this page stood out as so wonderfully and scathingly accurate, and got me thinking.
www.ebonmusings.org/atheism/gu...
I'd like to say here that the first comment which included the word "evolution" came only 12 hours after the video was uploaded. Thanks for that, that's a new record. Let's see if we can get it quicker next time though, shall we?
PLEASE go and look up that incredible rant in Deuteronomy that I quoted at the beginning of the video. It didn't really relate to the theme of the vid but it is a fucking classic passage, of Yahweh the bitter, wretched, old arsehole in the sky, spewing his violent hatred of mankind into the faces of his dearly beloved "chosen" people. Deuteronomy 28. One of my new favorite bible passages.

+The World I Know: That's because christians move away farther and farther away from their religion. This is what the actual bible says: Isaiah 6 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another: =========YES, THE JEWISH GOD HAS AN ASS AND SITS ON A THRONE. People who say that the jewish god is not physical and this and that should read their bible. Exodus 24:10 and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness. Exodus 15:8 And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea =========YES, THE JEWISH GOD HAS FEET AND NOSTRILS. Isaiah 40:22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. ==================Multiple parts of the jew mythos suggest that they were flat earthers. The Earth has a dome that separates the waters of below from the waters of above. This is why, according to them, the sky is blue and why rain falls on them. The Earth has 4 corners according to them It sits on pillars according to the jews. It sits on nothing according to another guy. The Earth doesn't move according to another guy. Jews weren't good at sciences back then.

Dark Energy Well that's one way to put it. Another way would be "that Christianity DOESNT WANT to answer." With a literal reading of the Bible, Satan doesn't drag you down to Hell or torture you. He's being tortured with you, in the lake of fire. It's God sending you and Satan there to be tortured, effictively Judge, Jury and Executioner. Of course this doesn't paint a particularly nice picture of God, someone who would eternally torture people for thought crime, the same punishment given to the most evil being in the universe. But hey, that's religious folk for you, always cherry picking.

I attended Christian schools for 12 years of my life, and I remember finding it so hard to believe. My family isn't Christian, so I was never indoctrinated. I remember thinking "why is Jesus's sacrifice a sacrifice if he doesn't really die? doesn't he know he was going to come back? isn't he god? Real sacrifice is putting your life in danger to save others even if you have no idea what's coming after. You do it not to be some kind of scapegoat, but simply to be selfless.." Another thing I've always thought belonged on that list (of things Jesus could have done but didn't) is simply getting the record of his own life and ministry down in a better form. Here you have a being who knows both through prescience of the future and from his own purposeful intentions that the record of his earthly life will be the most vital information he has ever communicated to humanity. So does he... a) Recruit a literate scribe among his disciples and instruct him to write down everything He says and does, right when it happens? b) Make Himself literate (an easy miracle) and spend some of the first thirty years of His life writing it all down in advance, on indestructible material and in divine writing that can be unambiguously read by anyone who speaks any language, even those who have not learned to read? c) Not worry about it, relying upon literate Greeks 30 to 60 years later to cull together (and copy from each other) bits of orally re-told stories, leaving various versions, and fragments of versions, to be hand copied on fragile parchments by error-prone scribes and church leaders (who will disagree about which copies are legitimate) for the next two thousand years?

What's with the low tech? A god that wants you to know about them could insert a perfect bible straight into everyone's mind. As 'intelligent' designs go this one is a major oversight. No need for the powercrazed to intervene between us as 'official' translators. 'But we want to edit many chapters out of the original bible, because we have had an update from god that we're not telling you about - if you were holy enough god would have told you. He told me, so you must be an unworthy.' No myriad of different subcults arguing over which end of an egg to open or when you can have sex or what kind of hat you need to wear so 'god' (or, more accurately, other cultists) can identify you - usually for slaughter if it's the wrong one. And why reveal himself to a handful of people in a minor country? Not as good as the bible in the brain idea - but a god could have hovered over Rome and Nanking (+anywhere else they chose), visible to all and telling everyone, in their own language, what was going on. A god could appear right now on everyone in the worlds TV set, if they wanted to. Or send everyone an email. But, apparently, it has to be from a old book that has been edited, mistranslated and needs to be explained by self serving men - which any decent god could forsee, but didn't care to sort out.

@@sujangamer7634 There isn't even proof that the books in the bible were written by the people they claimed to be written by. The bible wasn't written any time during his life. There is sufficient evidence to show that the bible's books are just repackaged fables from other cultures to get around local laws of the time. The book of Moses isn't historically possible. There is no recorded instance in human history of any of those miracles being possible, let alone accomplished. Just because a book says something doesn't mean it's true. @sujangamer7634
@sujangamer7634 6 ай бұрын
@@thecarrotsarecoming4711 Exactly, it all comes down to faith. However, the Bible is not as weak as you think. The earliest record of Jesus is 25 years after his resurrection by Paul. That is quite short. Also, the Old Testament is quite reliable based on the Dead Sea Scrolls. For the "actual evidence," I think you should look at Jesus. Research him and based on it (don't just pick information that discredits him but pick both and a lot of both). Once you know he really did exist. You got your "actual evidence." Now I have researched enough to doubt the Bible too (and the bible is most likely not 100% accurate), but I am choosing to have faith. I may sound like I know it all, but of course, I don't. You can argue against my idea. I may be wrong or right (and I understand, it's the same for you). Good Luck with finding or holding on to your truth, I probably won't reply anymore cuz I am not an expert at this, so I shouldn't be saying much anyway, but I got fired up that's why lol.

If Jesus was the Almighty or son of God or whatever, why didn’t he speak about germs and that diseases are caused by microscopic living things. Why didn’t he speak about the amazing Universe, galaxies, and all those mysterious stuff out there? Rather he spoke about only things which the normal human eye could see. And that makes him no more special than an average human being, who might have lived and died a violent death in the hands of Romans

I think it's kinda funny that God has to be portrayed as a good guy. The Bible has to constantly enforce that God is good. It kind of makes you wonder, if while people were writing the Bible, was he telling them "Be sure to mention how good and loving I am?" I don't really think so, because God doesn't really praise himself when he speaks in the Bible (and after all, if he could just praise himself, why would he need us?), making me think it was really just a very specific case of fear and a twinge of Stockholm. Can you imagine trying to write a book of the Bible? If you honestly thought you were contributing to the idealism of a real, tangible, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent being, would you not play it up? Think to yourself "I'm gonna make this guy look great, if I screw it up, I'll burn for all eternity." Mainly, if you actually believed in the Bible, you'd probably see the worst supervillain off all time. He could never be defeated, had no weaknesses and could make sure you're tormented eternally if you don't blindly accept him as your unwavering, unconditional ruler. If there were a God, he would be a shining example of injustice, and life would be completely and utterly pointless.

0:36 - 1:15 So, I looked up these verses and read the chapter they belonged to. Stamp wasn't exaggerating it's even worse than what's described in the video. It's just an entire chapter dedicated to Yahweh angrily listing off all the horrible things that he will cause and allow if you DARE defy him. EDIT: I read some more of that chapter and some of the actions of defying listed are fucked up crimes while others are super arbitrary nothingburgers, though I don't think the things listed in his insane rant are a fair punishment for any of them.
