This week in the patch i am planting my first round of cauliflower. Its late January and now is the time to start planting your brassicas. I have also planted my first round of broccoli. I am also working on my last planting of sweetcorn by doing a bit of weeding and planting the final 2 rows to fill out the patch

Hi Anthony, We're also in Sydney and glad you had better success with your corn than we did with ours. Looking forward to seeing your broccoli and later your broad beans. Well done, and continue enjoying Summer.

Thanks mate corn thankfully loves the heat and humidity so it’s the only thing really thriving at the moment. Will be starting my broad beans in April so looking forward to sharing it with you

Hi Anthony, Great video. Now you got me thinking. Traditionally I plant my corn in spring and harvest in early summer. As I only grow one crop, we usually freeze it and use it in the winter. Seeing you grow yours in late summer sort of makes more sense in our situation. Keep up the good work. Cheers

Thanks Kieth. Yeah I find as long as you plant your last planting of corn in December it will produce well. Kids love fresh corn and it never lasts long enough to freeze 😀

I make sure to take note of what your putting down as fertilizer as iam unsure in that area. Have you ever thought of doing a seed raising vlog ?? Like when and how ?

Hi yeah I am looking at making videos more often so I can let people know what I am planting right now at the moment from filming i take about 7-10 days to edit and post so it is a bit delayed. I might try to do a shorter format that makes it easy to quickly edit and put online so viewer can get the info straight away. I will be starting new rounds of broccoli cabbage and wombok this weekend so I will make sure I film it

That sounds great, short videos are just as good as the long ones. Being able to see what your starting will be awesome, I’ve got myself a diary so I can mark what to start each month. I really want to secession sew but iam unsure of the season to start the seeds in. I love how you list where you buy your seeds from and what they are called. I bought some of your cucumber seeds the Craig rz, I have rat problems so I start most of my seeds in side on a heat mat.

Oh I was wondering when to plant my winter crops thanks heaps Anthony will have to get out and turn that soil. Also muchly appreciated how you share the varieties of seed as it can be very confusing. Keep them coming and see you in the next. Up in south Brizzy so just wondering what the difference in zones would planting times occur.?

Thanks for watching. I would definitely start planting brassicas as soon as it start to get a bit more mild in your area. I would say March April get warm season varieties actually the varieties I grow are the varieties they grow in SEQLD so would be perfect in your area. also your soil will stay a lot warmer than mine so your plantings will produce faster

Hi Anthony! I really enjoy watching your videos. I am in Central Queensland. I noticed you planted zucchinis earlier in the season and have been waiting to see a video on their progress. How are they going?

Hi yeah I planted my zucchini early and I did harvest a lot of fruit but they have fallen away with the humidity and I went on holidays over Christmas so they went feral and died. I am ripping them out this weekend.

Thanks Anthony for a great Video. Being in Brisbane I am just a bit behind you so am just planting my brassicas seeds now. How did your last lot of corn go with all the rain? Jacqui
@sydneybackyardveggies9612
@sydneybackyardveggies9612 5 ай бұрын
Hi jacqui yeah my last corn planting went great I was impressed considering I didn’t add that much fertilisier. I find rain doesn’t really affect corn they seam to love it. This planting is now doing really well they are about to start forming tassels. I added fertilisier last week I didn’t get a chance to include it in this weeks videos but will give an update on the corn in the next one
