Wow, that last story was really, really relatable. I was in the exact same situation. My brother also has a girlfriend (now fiance) who has parents just like that. They even took their kid's money that they worked for if they had a job. For drugs and such, she told me. She even moved in with us after her parents kicked her out because she hid a gold necklace she got for her 18th birthday from her aunt in our safe. She knew her dad would come looking for it and try to sell if for money. Sure enough, one day she came home from school and her dad cornered her asking where the heck it was. He had gone through her room looking for it to pawn. She told him she put it in our safe because she knew he would try to steal it, and he was livid. he kicked her out, and even threw things at her. She came to live with us until she left for college on a scholarship. At first it was really hard for her, years and years of mental abuse like that really took it's toll on her. She would never ever ask for anything, and she felt horrible just eating dinner with us. She always felt like she was this huge problem to us. Eventually things started looking up for her and she has gotten more confident and sure of herself. We always told her she was a part of our family and now she believes it too. She still has a long way to go, and her parents still call sometimes and try to guilt trip her into giving them money, (She has a stable job on her campus, and is looking great financially) but she is the happiest she's ever been. I'm so happy my family was able to get her out of that toxic house, and I do hope that someday her parents become worthy of calling themselves mom and dad. I wish the best upon her other 6 siblings. Yeah, her parents are also choosingbeggers. But anyway, everything is great now, it was about two years ago now. And I'm even one of her bridesmaids. It's great.

i admire that girl that got out of her abusive household. i can’t imagine having parents like that, it sounds like hell. and op’s family was so welcoming of her as well. so heartwarming :’)

Child support in germany normally only lasts until the age of 18 except the child is studying or doing some kind of apprenticeship. In that case it lasts till the kid has finished their study or reach the age of 25

For the last story, I'm really happy the girl got out of that situation and that her nasty parents are forced to pay her the money they owe, but I'm also concerned about her brother. He's unfortunately still in that situation so I hope he can get out and get a better life as well. :/

As a german...its cute to her you say "Wohnungsgeld". I am not sure but I think you get child support money until you are 24 here in Germany.

Her daughter got the dress because she actually has people that care about them unlike the parents
