It's a lovely rainy morning here in Michigan USA, after 2 months of just a trace of rain, breaking all previous drought records (including the dust bowl era) for this time. I love the stories you both tell. Bygone times, where someone would notice if your 1 good suit was missing, and being so remote you must rebury a body to go notify police (assuming to protect it from predators). Thanks for all your efforts. ❤❤

Good morning! Thank you for allowing Crime Reel for sharing this story. It’s actually pretty sad because he lost his wife so soon and his son wasn’t with him. Plus he had someone living with him who somewhat had a bad reputation. I think the worst part of it all is not finding out what happened to either gentleman and never knowing why they were killed. Regardless of one’s reputation no one has the right to take another persons life and as far as Mr. Barcley, he seemed like a really nice man. It’s funny how rumors Soulfly about a person after their death and sometimes that’s exactly what they are, rumors. We will never know exactly what happened and as his son said it’s in the past and all the parties are dead and gone. Have a wonderful week and thank you for sharing this story

Also, IT WOULD BE AMAZING if you did the story of the Bath School Disaster from here in Michigan USA. It was the worst intentional bombing in the country until Oklahoma City. I worked at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing where the injured children and adults were taken, and the nurses' stories still echo in the halls.

I started listening while prepping dinner and washing a dish or two while it cooked, and ended up cleaning the whole kitchen. I've been struggling with mundane tasks , but I was so engrossed I flew right through it. Thank you both for sharing your passion and skill with us. It improved my day and I'll try listening while I clean from now on. It was a great story as always.

Great collaboration between,Brief Case and Crime Reel and all the more interesting because it's from my country. This was a true story I'd not heard of before. I think after losing his wife, son going away he was lonely and wanted company and due to the war only older men were left behind. First bloke to apply for the job got it. These old towns and stations are so far from other people, 100's of klms from anywhere else

A fascinating case brilliantly presented. BC, you have us spoiled. Your guest presenters are nothing short of the best.

My impression is that this was a case of Frontier Justice, since the bodies of both men were found buried and miles apart, both having been killed and most of their valuables stolen. The neighbor was present on the property a few times, around the time of estimated deaths, and remained present long enough to deal with matters there. Can't imagine someone would sit and wait for 2 days, when there was evidence of wrong-doing and absence of the parties living there about him. Neighbors relied on and looked after each other, and still do, when living and working in remote, uncivilized areas. They took care of their own and dealt with law breaking without the use of jails, courts and lawmen, much like the early settlement days in North America.

Would love to see a BC/CR tag-team video, with both of you narrating, (and perhaps commenting),about a historical case. That would be EPIC!

Amazing to think that the Barclay's banking/finance empire sprouted from a tiny, rural, cattle station! Great video and interesting to try to figure out if it was personal or part of another criminal act etc.

I would like to take the time to tell you what a wonderful channel this is. I am more fascinated with centuries old crime than I am with recycled modern era crime stories that are so saturated that it becomes mundane. Another of my big time favorites is just too cool for school ! If memory serves, I believe this is the second time you two have doubled up. Love your channel and the fact you covered this story! My dad was part of a group of men that restored Harry Smith's hut and I spent many, many school holidays camping in and outside on the property it was built on. It's a beautiful and calm part of the world and the story is intriguing. I heard many different theories sitting around the camp-fire at night chatting growing up.
