I think we will end up getting the lotus back but the way she returns to us will depend on a alignment choice. Moon gets Natah, Sun gets Margulis (Not actually real margulis because of jade light), and neutral gets Lotus.

When Ballas extends his long hand palm up, he is transferrence-commanding (same with umbra to kill his son, as with Lotus to join her). Lotus did not leave us willingly, that is what she wanted to show us when she gave us the vision where we are there, but not acknowledged in any way.

Caliban somewhat enforces a friendly sentient factions existence. Since he himself is mostly sentient and he can summomn friendly sentients I think it has something to do with the Lotus rising up against Era and destroying the antagonistic sentient faction, then establishing a friendly one to help the tenno

Been saying it since they showed the trailer on the stream. Lotus seems hurt, confused and concerned when the Tenno starts to stand in opposition to her. When she appears, her expression can be seen as potentially cocky, as if she is cornering the Tenno and knows it well, but when watching again, it seems more like relief. We're there, and alive, and she appears glad of that fact. So it wounds her when the Tenno prepares to fight back. She doesn't want to fight her child. Key thing to note is Caliban itself. It can summon friendly Sentients to assist in combat. Who do we know that could possibly make such a thing? Reb mentioned it was someone we know, so I immediately thought of our buddy Alad V, always tinkering at things unlike himself. Opening Warframes to see their hollow insides, playing with the infestation and most recently, striking deals with the Sentients to get a foot in the door and experiment on entire chunks of Sentient technology. We even see a massive portion of the Ropalolly in a tile used for Spy missions, so he would definitely be familiar with the inner workings, right? But then I noticed something.. Look at Caliban's design. The right knee, specifically. A floral pattern? Where else, in the entire game, do we see such a symbol so prominent? Who else, if given the chance to dream, not of who they are, but who they want to be, would grant their child the chance to fight her own kind *with* her own kind?

Ah, I just knew you'd have the most interesting thoughts on this trailer. Personally, I have very little doubt Natah will be joining us as an ally; I just hope the fact we will then have a ally with intimate knowledge of Sentient technology, strategy, and even the ability to control lesser Sentients will factor in significantly. With her help, we could upgrade our arsenals and just about everything to a serious degree. Personally, I think Natah is going to defect back to our side and essentially create a splinter faction of friendly Sentients. This would also explain how we steal Caliban and how he can summon friendly Sentients; Natah helped us take him over and he's summoning from her faction. I kinda wonder if Robolotus hasn't been a front for Natah the whole time; controlling technology is entirely within the Sentients wheelhouse, and taking over her own hologram to keep guiding us despite being mindcontrolled/under deep cover seems like something she's do. It would explain why the fake Lotus is able to so perfectly replicate and seemingly even predict the actions and opinions of the real Lotus despite reacting to events the real one never encountered. If Natah hacked and took her over, these responses and even the brief reveals of her true form would make sense.

Great to hear your thoughts on this. I think DE will allow players to have their cake and eat it, with the "lotus" persona dying, while some combination of Margulis/Natah is revived to take a similar role. I think the Lotus knows she is losing herself (to corruption, to age or simply influence) and so she has become like that one heroic character in a zombie film that gets bitten, working for the good guys while letting everyone know they will die, turn and have to be put out of their misery. At the end of the quest, we could battle the lotus, only to then awaken a truer form of our space mum afterwards... I know, a wild guess... just nice to be back at a stage where there is so much story upcoming that we can speculate on.

I feel like its not possible for the natah transmissions to be a glitch. The model used in these transmissions is completely different than the one used in her dialogue during the ropalolyst and orphyx fights. The old one is a lot darker and more black?, whikst the new one has a red glow to it

I've been predicting this for years. Ever since Apostasy Prologue came out, when I saw that we still had CephaLotus as mission control I knew she was coming back. And yes, she was never meant to be gone this long. Apostasy came out at the end of 2017, The Sacrifice came out mid 2018, Chimera in late 2018, and The New War was originally supposed to come out Christmas 2019. My guess is Erra and The Maker were also on the original schedule, slated for sometime in early-mid and mid-late 2019 respectively. It was only supposed to be 2 years. That then got stretched into 4 because [DE]lays are inevitable, and then covid.

It's also worth remembering that the lotus sent us on the path to finding umbra, that wasn't a prompt from the man behind the wall. and as for erra being alive, i think they've long since answered that, orokin kuva restores sentient regenerative abilities we learned that from the gara story. Maybe part of ballas' Betrayal included giving erra or other sentients access to large amounts of kuva. Perhaps erra was actually destroyed in the reservoir encounter in the old war, but was able to regenerate his parts, because he had kuva already.

Part of my theory: the Lotus was the first amalgam. At the end of the Old War,, Ballas sought to invoke Margulis' continuity and bring her back to life, and he decided to use Natah as a host. But it didn't work. In stead of Margulis' personality overriding Natah's, the personalities merged. Natah's piousness and devotion to family mingled with Margulis' compassion and sympathy for the Tenno: the Lotus was born, a psychological amalgam of Natah and Margulis. In Apostacy, Ballas had found a way to disentangle the two personalities, and Margulis went away with him. But at some point, the Natah identity re-emerged and took over. My guess is the Man in the Wall intervened somehow: in Chains of Harrow, the Lotus was convinced that the Man in the Wall was nothing but a delusion of poor Rell's, but when we fight the Ropalolist, Natah says she has seen "the walls other face;" she knows he's real. mitw is behind EVERYTHING, the moment we find out about him, boom, the Lotus is taken away. Not a coincidence. My guess is that all this will be revealed, there will be a not just a truce but an alliance (hence the Sentient Tech warframe) and we'll pivot to the real enemy, while Natah advices us as the Lotus would, until she figures out who she wants to be.

I'm hoping we get to boss fight Natah, which will free the Lotus. That way, people get their loot and their big showdown. I don't want the Lotus back, but I do hope we part in peace. Maybe she goes back to Tau as the new leader of the Sentients. Or, maybe she goes back to fight her brother / father with her followers. I hadn't thought about a sentient divide before you mentioned it. Sounds like it would be really interesting!

Crazy idea, ( Also Spoiler warning for any new players ) in a previous video you pointed out that The Unum is also referred to as "The Wall" this has me thinking what if the Unum was somehow blocking out the man in the "wall" or trapping him, and its destruction in The New War could release a threat Beyond anything the system has ever seen! What if the tenno and sentient ally to fight a new threat? Or if the Man in the wall finally possesses some Tenno fully and a tenno war begins?? Lol

I'm still of the impression that Balas found her location and "tricked" her into coming with him. His records show designs of the suit she's wearing, so that suit was his plan all along. Lotus may have agreed to go with, playing the part of Margulis, hoping to sus out his plans, not knowing the prison he had in mind for her. Now she's trapped and trying to find a way out. Speaking for myself, I won't kill the lotus. It doesn't matter to me if she is good or bad, I don't care if it just her and me in the end. I still see her as my momma.

The choice! Exactly! I've been saying that a lot as well...much like the end of War Within, where we had some choice in how to deal with the Queens, I REALLY hope we get a choice about what to do when we finally come face to face with Lotus. There seem to be tons of people on both sides of that divide, some want to kill her, others want to forgive and take her back. So hopefully DE leans into that....watching peoples' reaction videos to that moment would be amazing. But yeah, I do have a lot of faith in DE's creative and writing team that, while I think a lot of aspects of glitchy Purple Lotus were mostly oversights in mashing missions together and getting around recording new mission voice lines and code to replace Lotus being our mission handler, they could very well work that into the story somehow. I'm also really hopefully Stalker shows up in New War. The blurb on the website implies Hunhow and Stalker and Erra and all of them are banding together to fight the New War, so...I guess we'll see.

I've had a persistent theory for quite a while now to reconcile all the available evidence: Natah claims during the Ropalolyst fight that she was lied to, that she was made into the Lotus against her will by the Orokin, her memories altered. When Ballas disconnected her during the Apostasy prologue, she seemed surprised at his identity. We saw a memory of Erra seemingly being killed during the Old War, which Lotus-Natah's memories and Varzia's testimony seem to corroborate. Erra's reappearance with the Scarlet Spear only happened *after* the Lotus was turned into Natah, and after Ballas was taken to the Sentients and hybridized. Ballas was in charge of and responsible for the creation of the Sentients in the first place. Ballas is a tricksy bastard at the best of times, and a manipulative betrayer of the highest order when pushed. After throwing Natah onto the throne to activate the beacon, Erra releases Ballas' leash, implying that they were putting on an act for Natah's benefit. Ballas, shifty punk that he is, can clearly manipulate and create advanced Sentient or Orokin tech, as seen during Chimera prologue. He is also skilled at switching sides, and playing both sides against the middle. Erra in the past made a big deal about family. Erra of the present seems not to have cared much about family, only troops and warriors. So, all together: Lotus-Natah's memories were altered at some point; either she was made into the Lotus unwillingly, or she was made back into Natah unwillingly, or possibly both. Ballas, a trickster and manipulator, was modified with Sentient tech, and still had the skills and freedom to create further tech unobserved. I think, call me crazy but, I think that Ballas reconfigured Natah in honor of his beloved Margulis, and used Natah's desire for family as the basis for the Lotus upholding Margulis' work with caring for the Tenno. He used her and them to finish off the Orokin, the same way he used Hunhow to try to deal with the Tenno. Then, in the current era, he "freed" the Lotus, returning her to the Sentient fold so that they could use her against both the Tenno and the current system inhabitants (and based on the Ropalolyst fight and the Amalgams, she's doing that well enough). He created a copy of Erra as a puppet, or *possibly* (I don't put much weight of confidence on this) modified or convinced (and then secretly modified) the surviving Erra into playing the part to manipulate Natah. This theory, as best I can tell, reconciles all that we've seen, explains the discrepancies in Erra's and Ballas' behavior, and seems in keeping with the Lotus: for the thousands of years we've slept, she kinda didn't do much to fix the origin system. She clearly could have, just with human spies and blackmail, given how she uses human operatives. But she didn't. As if she had been waiting, all this time, for a directive, an order, something more than "care for the Tenno". Only after that had been tipped into "the Grineer are a threat to the sleeping Tenno, they need to be awake to be protected" did anything in the system change. Possibly, this was what reminded Ballas that the Lotus even still lived. And now, he tried to reclaim her. Possibly, he hoped that after becoming Natah, she could be made into a better facsimile of his beloved Margulis, or possibly he didn't expect what returning to the Fold would do to her. Either way, he definitely wasn't expecting his death and reincarnation as a chimera, but he worked with it, doing whatever he did to or with Erra now that he was on the inside. Which leaves us with Ballas the manipulator, maybe-Erra who is maybe a huge combat threat or maybe a pushover, and Natah-Lotus, who probably is under some kind of unwilling control. Even if her feelings were manipulated, they could well have grown to be real... or real enough. It seems to me that Natah-Lotus has never chosen *anything* for herself. She was bred to be an infiltrator, spy, mimic, and she was. She was made into the Lotus, to care for the Tenno, and she did. She was made into Natah, to be a weapon of vengeance, and she seems to be. How poignant would it be for us to weaken her enough to free her from her latest control, and give her the freedom to do what she's never had the chance to: choose for herself. How would it feel for us to give her the first real choice she's ever even had in her millenia of life... and she can choose willingly to return as our mother? I'd like to say I hope for this ending, but unfortunately I'm pessimistic about DE's story writing quality. I also thought that it would be cool if Grandmother Entrati was the only one who remembered her own original name, but they shot that one down, so...

Something that i have noticed is that both in the sacrifice (on the umbra cutscenes) and the new trailer cinematic all sentients have the white/red pattern of the mimics, and Natah is the most powerful of the mimics so there is a chance that she commands a small army of mimics, additionally calliban (a warframe) also has that white/red pattern and he is obviously playable, so perhaps sentients of that pattern are potentially allies?

Hey Siege! I wanted to provide a theory that I had thought up for awhile that I think the trailers support and strengthen. In sum: Margulius is not dead, and Ballas is in Lotus' plan. Obviously from the above, if I am correct, will shatter current understandings of past events. We know that the Orokin can perform the Continuity to transfer themselves to a new body. But we don't know a lot on the restrictions if any, but we do know that the body does not need to be Orokin. Theorically, it could be a Sentient one. We also understand that Kuva can be used to revive Orokin as with the Grineer Queens. What I am suggesting follows to the fact that the Sentients can have many parts to them that can act separately or be removed from their body. I say this in relations to Lotus' Helmet. Based on what we know about the sentients, it is unlikely Lotus needs that helmet, considering her ability to "sing". Instead, I think it is a shard of her that Margulius performed the Continuity on to stay alive and avoid the Jade light. This would mean that Natah had become the Lotus before the execution and had the help of Margulius to do everything she needed to protect the Tenno. It may explain why she knows so much and why she takes offense to Rell's supposive outcast as Margulius is inside her. As still a fragment of Lotus, they can still communicate even now which would explain the mission dialogue being so good. The helmet is Lotus' backdoor to us. It also explains why Margulius is in the trailer. We are not timetraveling, she's still alive and probably can perform the continuity on a sentient mimic to get her "body" back. And Margilius inside of her would give Lotus a fighting chance to resist the reprogramming of her family and still be on our side. She might be outright immune. Now, if Ballas knows that Margilius is alive, we know he would do anything for her. It might have been their plan from the beginning since Ballas can place transference bolts. Margilius has deep knowledge of transference and the Sacrifice shows that non-Tenno can use transference. That execution could have been on a surrogate body. It also would show how Ballas fits in this picture and why he was so easy to defeat at the end. Because he wanted to "die" so that Erra would follow their duo plan. And Balla's sematics both then and in the Sacrifice would be a huge show. We know Ballas can lie better than the Devil himself and can be cutthroat. This would not be outside his expertise and something Lotus can count on. Ballas is selling to Erra that they can be allies so that he can be betrayed twice. With this huge plan, Lotus basically wants to guarantee that we will win because her family are the only ones that can deny her from being the Lotus. Ballas wouldn't want to. Margilius shares the same goal as she does. Lotus knows the Origin system is the Sentient's home and that they would return eventually. She built this plan to bring over as much of her kind as possible and cull the rest. This also works neatly with the idea of a Tau system expansion as we could travel through a Sentient civil war. I've been saying this for years, the Sentients didn't just randomly decide, upon realizing the Orokin were going to be a violation to the existence of everything in the universe, to wage genocidal war. SOMETHING out there came into contact with the sentients and either terrified them into returning, or commanded them into returning. I have money on there being a force so powerful, it drastically dwarfs the Sentients as a threat, and the only thing that can stop it is that of the void.

Mecha lotus is specifically a synthisized lotus, Basically he did a simarus and downloaded all her recordings so this lotus is an imperfect digital copy of the lotus based off her dialogue and data.

While I do think you're looking too deep into some stuff (like the "gift from the Lotus" naming), there is definitively some possibility for Lotus to come back to the side of the Tenno (from the tenno's perspective, not hers, I mean). However, I don't think she'll come back as our good and beloved mother immediately, I'd expect a redemption quest post NW for that. Other possibilities I see are her sacrificing herself to save us, she being the mastermind behind the rise of the sentients, and her being puppeted by someone else like Ballas' and have that be the final enemy of the NW. About the choice factor, keeping in mind this is a mmo, whatever it is, whichever the outcome, the differences would have to be matchable worldwide, so unless it's a we kill her/Erra or Ballas kill her/She kills herself sort of situation, where the outcome is the same and what changes is how we experience it, there is not gonna be a choice factor.

After the flashback she blinks and is no longer looking at us but next to/behind us. It's a very subtle eye movement.

I think that Caliban will be a key part of the endgame of this content drop, and as such I believe that an alliance between the sentients and the tenno is nigh impossible to not have. Maybe it is through Natah/Lotus, or maybe we ally with them by ourselves?

Remember what lotus tells us during second dream "Dream. not of what you are, but of who you want to be" I think that's our biggest clue.

I posted a comment about it on the actual trailer video, but did anyone else notice how at the very beginning of the trailer, when the New War theme is starting to kick in, there’s a hint of the Lotus’ theme trying to peek through for us to hear.

DE deliberately released the new natah/lotus mission briefing screen on the left side when in mission. They so much as said this and said it was not a bug or a fluke. Also you said exactly what I was thinking about a new faction lead by natah/lotus. It was the eyes that gave it away something else was going on.

I am extremely excited about the new war as well. I hope Lotus comes back to the side of the Tenno. A sentient /Tenno alliance would be really interesting. Along with the Orikin coming back and being the real threat they have always been portrayed as. That was a great video. thanks

i don't know how i think the specifics will play out, but one thing i am certain of is that caliban will be the product of the lotus' time back in the sentient fold, combining her knowledge of tenno, warframes, and sentient technology to produce a weapon that takes out erra

I wanna know your thoughts on Caliban. On the new war website it calls Caliban ‘Erra’s twisted masterpiece’ I wonder why Erra would make a warframe. I’ve seen theories that it is a trap, made to hold the Tenno for use as a power source.

So, here's a bunch of small lore tidbits from the New War page on the official site: 1. Erra made Caliban as a weapon for the New War 2. Venato, Caliban's Scythe, is made from the limb of a fallen Eidolon 3. Hunhow is part of the leading Sentient force. Not sure if that was common knowledge, but I personally wasn't sure if he was alive or not before seeing this. 4. Stalker is involved with the war. 5. The site wants you to question both Natah's and Ballas's loyalty to the Sentients. I have two possible theories in regard to Natah: Theory one - Lotus was manipulated: Ballas has been working with Erra and Hunhow to make Lotus believe that the Tenno deceived her with false love. The big climax will be Natah witnessing our agony over being forced to face her and realizing that she has been tricked. I'll also fit in Ballas's conversation with Dax Umbra and theorize that perhaps he knew that Natah would turn against her kind again. Ballas hasn't finished his plan with Hunhow, and now we see what exactly he is doing. Theory Two - Natah and Ballas are on our side: I still think Ballas isn't fully aligned with us, rather it is more helpful to him to work with us. He got what he wanted from Hunhow, now he just needs to cut ties. He needs the Tenno to fight the Sentients for him, and he has reached out to Lotus to resume her role as Natah to help guide us through facing them. Along the way, he did something to align himself with Erra. The trio has been secretly helping us. Ballas gave us a weapon to kill the Sentients, Erra gave us a Warframe and some of his warriors to be led by it, and Lotus has been guiding us through all this, just like she always has. Bonus Stalker Theories: A big part of the story will be focused on Stalker and Ballas. I believe Stalker will attempt to align himself with Ballas, and if Ballas doesn't reject him, we may see a new version of him. Stalker Prime maybe? Or perhaps this could be a turning point. Ballas could be the reason Stalker becomes more accepting of us, and the lore becomes that Stalker is sparring with us to keep our skills in check, using new gear to test us. Or maybe, he's still Hunhow's puppet, and Ballas gives him a new Orokin/Sentient Hybrid upgrade. Maybe Caliban was meant to be Sentient Stalker? (Second Dream spoilers ahead) Another option, if the end of Second Dream is meant to be that Stalker was freed from Hunhow's control, he could come to the Tenno in seek of mutual aid to save Ballas and Lotus. This may play into the idea that Ballas doesn't need saving, and is merely using Stalker as a pawn for his own goals. (You can probably tell by now that I hate Ballas as much as a lot of other people hate Lotus).

what about the Entrati, they are also Orokin and yet your friends (have to be cuz you need necramech for teh quest), what role can they have, can they maybe have some influence on Lotus (in hope to mend teh Lotus-Teno family) maybe ?

I'm trying my best to upgrade my gear as much as I can before New War is out. So. Much. Forma. Still looking for good mods to up my damage, anyone have recommendations for important mods? At least, anything rare or that I would gave to go out of ky way to get.

I'd like to have a choice, just like in earlier quests. The ideal end of the new war would be if it were up to us if we save or vanquish her after a boss fight against either her sentient form, Ballas or preferrably Erra (whom I wanted to punch in what he has for a face since we first 'met', as it's hard to be more evil than Erra).

Yeah I've been thinking about it too: a War with the Sentients was inevitable, and there would be no way that we can beat them, not on our own, and not even with the help of the Corpus and the Grineer. Ballas could still be right that she manipulated everything. But purhapse she did so to prepare us for the war, and so that she can stop them from within.

You know, the sentients and tenno becoming might not be to far off especially since we're suppose to be getting a sentient warframe (im assuming) by the end of the new war who just happens to be able to summon up sentients

I think that the sentients and the tennos will make a aliance because we will get a sentient Warframe blueprint for finishing the New war Quest
