I really love how you simplify an idea so a lay person can understand it. I feel like these concepts should be taught to children of all ages. Great work!

I've been deep in stoic philosophy these past few years and it's amazing seeing the overlap with CBT. There is a great quote from Epictetus, "Where do I look for good and evil? Not to uncontrollable externals, but within myself to the choices that are my own." Thank you for the insight on applying this thinking to a relatable scenario, it was very helpful for me!

Self-help CBT is currently helping change my life. I was so wrapped up in how I felt that I just couldn't focus on my goals and improving myself. Without therapy it seemed impossible to get into a better place mentally but I decided enough is enough and catch my thoughts before they make me feel like a hopeless mess. I still have a lot of work to do but I've been journaling and focusing more on the realistic/positive side of things. I've wanted to start drawing for years but have been too perfectionistic and hard on myself to even try. I still have doubts but stopping my thoughts and having an optimistic mindset is keeping me sane. Thanks for the awesome content!

I’ll be looking forward to the next video. Because the one issue I have with CBT is it supposes that we can simply click our heels and “turn that frown upside down”. It seems to blame the victim and invalidate people’s feelings by saying “the reason you’re upset is all your fault”. No matter what happens...your dog died....you became homeless.....nuclear war.....? If you’re upset about it, it because you’re thinking is “wrong”. Most of us looking for help are doing so because of deep subconscious issues that drive us. If it were always a matter of “thinking differently”, don’t you think we would have done it by now? Anyways, I don’t mean to come off contentious. I have a feeling you’ll be explaining all that soon. I only wanted to share my frustrations. I believe there could be better communication in the CBT community about the methods used to subvert deep unconscious beliefs as well as point out that not everything is within our immediate control.....not even our thoughts.
