Press charges for... What, precisely? Yes, it's disturbing, weird, strange, gross, and a slew of other adjectives, but frankly, she's 21, an adult, and attempting to press charges would only alienate her and any children that come out of the situation. Also, you'd be laughed TF out of whatever police station or attorney's office you tried that in. That kind of behavior is how you get RO's and defamation suits landed on you. Once your children hit the age of consent in the area you live in, you literally don't get to 'press charges' on anybody who isn't directly assaulting you. There's a reason why almost every country on Earth has an established age of adulthood, and it's to prevent parents from butting in and forcing their will on their offspring after a certain point. Right or wrong, if you have kids, wait until they hit 21, and try 'pressing charges' on the SO. Just do me a favor, and record the result of such a stupid move.

@@BIGEAGLEDUDE To make it worse, they try the criminal charges, they'd be very hard to make stick without her helping. She's 21 and been out of the house for a few years, and they didn't know it was happening until after then, legally, that makes it even worse to deal with. Her cooperation isn't going to happen at that point, and she'd be actively trying to scuttle any investigation...which would make later attempts even more difficult to get anywhere. At this point, there is also the granddaughter to worry about heavily, if he's willing to do that to someone who was raised as his little sister, his own daughter might be in the danger zone as well. The family is in a nightmare scenario with it because of this guy... At the same time, part of this seems like it may also be the psychotic way for the guy to try being a "real" family member...

Not necessarily. As they say, he may have won the battle but he hasn't won the war. The nazis kicked our (uk) ass a couple of times and we still came out on top thanks to the support and an alliance with the US. That's what the family has to do now, be that support, and when the time comes, bethe alliance by picking up the pieces and putting the daughter back together again. All I know is this, if this was my daughter, you just have to be there, ready, willing and able to pick up the pieces. This honestly isn't the first time I encountered this. This happens more than you think as long as they aren't really blood the two in the relationship don't care. Sometimes it is even the younger partner that actually initiated the relationship.

The fact that this guy has had access to her from early age and encouraged her to lie about the relationship (and as an adult he couldnt tell the truth in case HE legally or morally got in trouble. The girl says they do not have sex until she turned 18. You have to go to court and PROVE that happened before that. She was groomed and manipulated and she will not admit to that most likely. So going to court is rather pointless. One can press charges but they will probably wouldn’t stick.

Also I am guessing they laid for her phone etc while she was a minor. They may be able to retrieve messages from when she a minor to prove that he was inappropriate before she became an adult

Get a friend or family member he hasn't met who looks VERY young, have her seduce him with a hidden camera, and make sure she subtly points out how she's under 18, so he can't claim later that he thought she was over 18. Yeah I totally agree - my parents married and were 14 years apart. They had two kids and have been together 27 years. When they met though, they were complete strangers. The guy in the first story was changing the daughter's diapers when she was 1 year old. That's literally just fucking creepy.

What a pointless statement. Everyone agrees it's possible but generally speaking significant gaps in experience and maturity lead to unfair power dynamics with the younger partner struggling to establish boundaries and problematic behavior being normalized.

Yeah - if the relationship starts when the youngest is at least 30, the age difference starts getting less relevant, I have personally seen it.

Tbh, I think he will do that if they have a girl. I am disgusted to think that he will insist on personally taking care of the child the same way he did with her, and she will not even realize what he is doing because she will think that he is just a great father.

You do have a point. As disgusting as this all is, it seems like it would have been too much of a hassle for the guy to stick around if he was just a pedo, yet he stayed. @E Spock no because there was nothing really to report other than him trying to get her alone (more than once). Being weird about photographing only her over her male sibling/cousins. Arguing with me about taking her anywhere alone because I wouldn’t let him, trying to slip away with her unnoticed during family gatherings, etc. I was “all” over it, he never got away with anything. So they would probably say what could they arrest him for? Acting like an over-doting uncle? I could tell his interest was over exaggerated though, it was getting unnatural. He was all over her in public settings, to the point that she was uncomfortable and trying to get away from him-it just had red flags all over it so I kept a very close eye on him and stopped anything that made her uncomfortable. But he always tried again later thinking that I wouldn’t catch him again, that I had let my guard down. Nope, not even close. Even if it seemed like I wasn’t watching-I was. Other female family members on my side were starting to notice his weirdness towards her as well without my say so-so it wasn’t just me. It all blew up when we were at a family thing at my MIL’s house and two of the little kids took a nap in her bed. He disappeared and I immediately went looking for him. He was standing at the side of the bed on my daughter’s side touching the top of the blankets she was under. All adults were out talking and visiting and he was in the bedroom staring at my daughter as she slept and touching the blanket over her body, like rubbing it weirdly. That was it. I told him to leave her alone and come out with the adults. He refused repeatedly. I blew up, went and got my husband immediately to get him away from her. That was it-I was done. I couldn’t take having to watch him constantly in order to keep my daughter safe around him. It caused a family rift for awhile. His mother was mad at me. The brothers never spoke again, ever. It’s been 16 years now. He’s still weird, never married or had kids (thank god). Now his mother admits that she notices him looking at/commenting on young girls constantly when they go out to eat together, so she now realizes that he has that problem. He never approached them though. She apologized to me and said that I was right about him. He’s pretty socially isolated now and has been for years. He lives with his elderly dad and goes straight to work and back again basically. That’s what I have been told anyway.
