I wouldn’t compare Brian to Christopher Tolkien so much as I would compare him to David Day. Both David and Brian are clearly fans of their respected series but also don’t have any objections to publishing their own interpretation and passing it off as canon. Both make tons of books using the author’s name and recognition to sell copies, all in fancy formats with cool artwork, but lack the ability to say anything really profound about these series in their writing beyond surface level observations and understandings of the story
