You failed to include that aviation also is constrained by this act. I am in the shipping business and currently we have 13 vessels, 8 barges and 5 ships dedicated to PR-US trade. In reality goods are not much more expensive here than in the US. Also the feds gave Tote and Crowley mega bucks in subsidies to build there ships. I don’t think they want to bankrupt these companies before the pay them back. Also I don’t think any savings from say a Chinese shipping company would be passed on to the consumer. The Jones Act is a complicated animal that the politicians love to dangle that carrot at will. God Bless.

Columbus colonized and enslaved the true people of Borinquen and change its name to Puerto Rico. The people of the islands were forced to mine gold for spain if they could not meet their quota of gold one of their hands would be cut off the people of all the carribean islands suffered the same fate. When they finally managed to gain freedom from Spanish colonial rule the United States invaded and took control of the island. To this day the United States impose heavy taxes on Puerto Rico while offering tax breaks to Americans. All the while the historical artifacts of the people of Borinquen are auctioned off to private collectors and kept under lock and key they say that there are no Boriqua Tainos with false claims of the peoples extinction. This is lie.
