Wow. I'll be moving there this fall. This trail is too technical for me, I hope to find some easier ones more for a beginner! 😎

Agree… beautiful but too much annoying gravel! Stunning views though 💪🏻💥

I put a smashpot in my ZEB, so much better than the air spring. Something to also consider, shocks can drive load into the fork if they are not balanced out. Sometimes the stock shocks on bikes are poorly tuned as they just put stuff on for the masses. If you ride a lot you need to look at both ends of a full sus bike.

These are getting knocked down by the land owner soon.
@GlobalTrailGuide4 ай бұрын
Nooooooooo, so sad to hear that
@-DUTCHY-4 ай бұрын
From the landowner. I’d really hoped not to have to write this, but if I’m honest, it’s been on the cards for some time. Anyone who’s been down to the jumps on “Northern Monkey” recently, and particularly in the last few weeks, will have noticed the increase in the size of the jumps. Because of the increased size, it was clear that problems could possibly arise, so in early January this year, I reached out the guys who’ve been making them bigger (through a third party), and asked them more than once to reduce the size back to where they were previously, and they were told very clearly that if they didn’t, what the potential consequences could be. As the builders haven’t rectified this, (and in fact just added another jump) it should come as no surprise that the jumps that were previously only well known in the MTB community, have now been brought to everyone else’s attention, the landowners, the Borough Council and more importantly the Ambulance service who’ve had to deal with a disproportionate amount of callouts to NM. To add to the equation, the Borough Council have also confirmed that the jumps and excavations are classed as “engineering works” and therefore in breach of planning. So today, the jump line is being completely removed. If the size hadn’t been increased, and left as they’d been for some years prior, it’s possible we wouldn’t be where we are today, and NM would remain quietly in the MTB community, but that’s now too late. I know a lot of people will be disappointed, and trust me, I’m not particularly happy about it either. Apart from the time and cost to remove the jumps, it reinforces the argument that mountain bikers do not appreciate how fortunate they are to have such an amazing trail network on the Hurtwood. Anyone who knows me will know I try and fight the bikers corner as much as I can, cutting everyone as much slack as possible, but this entirely relies on you guys not doing stupid stuff, because when you do, everyone outside of the MTB community gets to hear about it and once that happens, I’m afraid it’s out of my control and I’m unable to support you. If you want large jumps, you need to go to a bike park where everyone can be safely insured against you breaking yourselves. The Hurtwood is a very unique set up, privately owned land with mostly unrestricted public access and therefore having large manmade features is never going to be an option, short of a massive upheaval in the liability and insurance laws. Land owners have something called “a duty of care” to their visitors, which (as crazy as it may sound) could include taking appropriate measures to prevent you from launching yourself into the air on a bicycle. If you want to know more about a landowners duty of care, please have a google for ‘The Occupiers' Liability Act 1957’. So to clarify, we are only removing the jumps and replacing the soil back around the damaged tree roots, the rest of NM will be left alone.

Sorry for your loss bro. Commencal > Canyon. Also- you should be on an XL. I’m shorter than you and it’s a perfect fit. The slightly unbalanced thing is real- you have to put more weight on the bars- they are aggressive. Can be a negative if your terrain isn’t super aggressive. For most people a balanced approach is better for sure so I get that. Let the downvotes flow lol.
@GlobalTrailGuide4 ай бұрын
As mentioned, the L is too short and the XL is too long. It’s a sizing problem. One that Commencal themselves recognized and has since corrected on all of their redesigns (shorter reaches and longer stays)

Hello, good video. I have the same bike, and I have also changed to a spring shock, same model too. However, I have a problem, the spring rubs against the frame because it fits very tight. However, I watch your video and there is enough space and in mine there is not. Does your Cane Creek dock have any special measurements? Thanks for the help, Javier

Hey! I know it’s been a year since you posted, but a question : I rode my last bike with a reach of 460 (torque 2018) and it felt amazing to me! And I’m 1,88m. Now considering to buy a Clash, sizing says L but the reach of 490 seems a bit long! Really thinking about getting a size M clash with a reach of 465 and the wheelbase is also longer than my last bike. Maybe someone can help me, best reagards !
@GlobalTrailGuide5 ай бұрын
Sounds to me like an M might do the trick for you. I also wouldn’t be surprised if a clash redesign is coming within the next year, Commencal has been shortening all of their reaches ever since they went too long on the clash. So maybe the next gen clash will be shorter (if you can wait) - hopefully there’s a next gen, 27.5 bikes are falling off.

how would this compare to a yt capra core 1?
@GlobalTrailGuide5 ай бұрын
Overall, the capra is ever so slightly tamer - not quite as slack, shorter chainstay, etc. From a components perspective, the core 1 and torque AL 5 share the same suspension and similar entry level wheels, however, the capra is Sram NX vs the torque’s Shimano Deore. Most would agree that Shimano deore is way better than NX drivetrain. I also prefer Shimano brakes over Sram.

I have mine from october 2022. I only had problems with cable rattle when removing and installing shigura, wheelset is not so great if you ride stairs but in woods its fine for the price but other than that shifting is okay, brakes work really well ( I just wanted to try magura mt7 pro with shimano levers from the bike and its working really well.. The feeling when riding is awesome. Easy to do tricks on and stable when going fast downhill. Overall 9.8/10 for this bike, but after 600 euros of upgrades it works like a 5000 euros bike and it feels much better soo 11/10.

How would you describe the feel of the rear suspension more poppy or more dead?
@GlobalTrailGuide7 ай бұрын
I feel this question has more to do with shock setup than leverage curve, though I recognize the affects of both. As a 170mm travel bike, and a heavy one at that, I feel I have to describe the bike as being more muted than poppy. But it still sends regardless.
@Planetone.7 ай бұрын
Is the Rock Shox rear suspension pretty firm on lock out while climbing or a slight bobble
@GlobalTrailGuide7 ай бұрын
I didn’t test the lockout in my limited time with the bike. I typically don’t use lockouts and didn’t feel the need on this hightower either
