$40 Boneyard Trailer. 1/14th scale model trailer for Tamiya based Freightliner.

The boneyard trailer is pretty much done and dusted. It's made to look like it has been through a few owners before working at a scrap yard until it became the scrap.
This is not a super fussy build, but it has still got some neat details.

Thanks very much Ron. It's a fun process to weather them up old and crusty. I think it is nearly as time consuming as making them look nice and factory fresh.

Love how you turn junk nuggets to gold. Then you make them look golden junk. The trailer actually looks like the one that sat across from my house in the weeds. When they pulled it out and started to drive off a police officer made them take it back and trailer it home. Not because it wasn't road worthy but because the license plates were from 1966. LOL

Thanks Steve! This trailer has no plates at all so I'd be in trouble! Trucker viewers may notice I put bolts in the brake chambers to mimic the spring brake cage bolts have been put in to manually release the brake pads so it can be towed without air.

Fantastic, love seeing those old dayton rims, throwback to an earlier time. I remember starting out trucking lots of those old timer truckers swore by those dayton rims, pain in the ass to deal with, but extremely strong and reliable.

Thank you! I really wanted the old style rims on it. Modern rims on old junk like that would not look correct.

I'm quite pleased with how cheap I made it. It became a challange to make it cheap as possible. I find the 1/14 truck hobby really high priced and wanted to low buck it.

Absolutely amazing work my friend. The rotten wood deck with the steel patchwork is incredible. All of the details are perfect.

Thank you brother! I wasn't sure if the rusty little nails from the garden furniture would hold up to weld, but incredibly they did. The boards are a bit loose and move a bit, but that is good, it is a little free animation when the truck is moving.

Thank you for another awesome comment Steve. Funny you should mention the Pete build. I just got the rear suspension kit for it in the weekend. I can finally get into it more now, which is super because the freightliner build is winding up soon(ish).

In its own quiet way this is very good work - the manky wood looks utterly authentic and, as you mentioned, allows glimpses of your excellent scale details. I particularly enjoy the fact that the stock car´s bash bar exhibits all-genuine bash damage, and the tied-down board reeks of authenticity too. The mismatched tyres on the well-observed wheels are a great touch too. I look forward to seeing this trailer being towed by the magnificent tractor unit in the fullness of time.

Cheers Del. I think I got the rusty old pile of junk look right eh? It was a bit of a eureka moment when I place the old bash bars on the trailer. Just another one of them chilling out in the shed day dreaming moments. I really enjoy this hobby.

@@OldIronRC There´s so much satisfaction to be had from those moments! Recently I visited the home of a bloke whose house backs onto a river. "Why on earth don´t you have a radio control boat?", I asked him. "Because I´m not a sad w*nker, Del", he replied. He goes straight to a bar after work and watches men playing football every evening...

@@Del350K4 Humans with big egos/low self esteem see playing with toys as childish. I find adults that are grown up enough to play without shame tend to be less stressed and generally just nicer people.

Old Iron you are the man. Love watching your brilliant skills you have thank you for sharing your builds with us. If you have items for sell would love to view them. Keep up the good builds and waiting on another video

Thanks Danny. The build process is the fun part for me. I have nothing for sale at the moment, but that dosn't mean I won't sell them later. I hope to make a truck to sell later on to make a little money to put back into more builds.
