A mixture of both will help but if you can, try to run outside more since the 1.5 mile run is usually done outside in the elements. Good luck!

So far I’ve passed all my exams and polygraph. I’m just waiting on my class date for the academy. Thanks for the information about the academy.
@BusinessForGod5 жыл бұрын
Tyrone Drain have the given you your offer letter? Do you practically work for the agency and just waiting for the academy training?
@Tydrain5 жыл бұрын
BusinessForGod how is setup where I’m located is once you complete your interview testing etc. you have to wait for your investigation close out (90 days)once that’s finished you’ll be notified about your academy date. During this period you are not working for the police department however you just have to keep your nose clean. So in the meantime you have to find a job or stay at home and wait for your email or phone call from your investigator
@BusinessForGod5 жыл бұрын
Tyrone Drain oh, ok. I think it’s a little different where I’m at. Here, once you’ve passed the physical and written exam you go into your background interview, then you do your suitability test (process I’m at now). I believe once my results come back from my suitability test the agency will send me a conditional offer letter of employment contingent on me passing the polygraph, medical, and drug test. From there I can be employed with the agency as long as it take for the academy to have a start date.
@hellothisis4u4 жыл бұрын
Do you think its best to get apply and get certified first or should I try to apply for entry jobs first and get lucky to be selected and then they will send me after
@WhatLCSays4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how the process is like where you live so I can't say which way is the best. Where I'm from, you apply, go through the academy and get certified while getting paid a salary. try to find a department that will pay you to go through the academy!

I'm a senior in high school and i am pursuing to be a police officer, whats some advice you can give me like about everything i feel like i cant do it
@WhatLCSays4 жыл бұрын
You have to be atleast 21 to become a police officer, so you have some time. Don't get in trouble, do a ride along with the department you think you want to work for in the future, get/stay in shape. Reach out to a recruiter to see what advice they can give you.
@alijamal39104 жыл бұрын
Do you only need police academy to become a police officer? And can you do police academy just to learn self defense or are there obligations?
@tlmbeast23 жыл бұрын
Yes. A lot of police acadamies are hosted in Community colleges nationwide, in what's called BLET (Basic Law Enforcement Training) courses and anyone can sign up. The difference is you would have to pay for it because it's a college course. You will be in there with police recruits and in the same classes but you just wont be a part of a Sponsored Department.

Can you plz do more videos about the academy and what’s like to be a police officer.

I'm starting in April. Your academy is super long! Mine is going to be 22 weeks.
@WhatLCSays5 жыл бұрын
That's awesome! Yeah most departments have a shorter academy but where I'm from they like to make sure we have a little bit more training but I would've been just fine with a shorter academy haha good luck!
@josiahwhite55775 жыл бұрын
@@WhatLCSaysVery different from out state's policy! They prefer less time in academy and more time with an FTO, so the standard here is only 11 weeks.
@WhatLCSays5 жыл бұрын
@@josiahwhite5577 11 weeks? Wow! I've heard of regional basic academies doing that. Our department does 34 weeks of basic academy then we have 4 stages with an FTO. The length of a stage depends on how well you're able to handle the job.
@josiahwhite55775 жыл бұрын
@@WhatLCSays Yeah, and I gotta say I probably agree with yall's mentality more. But eh, oh well, at least the county I'm applying with has roughly 20 weeks of material for their academy. No clue how long our FTO will be. Good luck to ya with your FTO portions! And policing in general.

@WhatLCSays4 жыл бұрын
Mark Ramirez hey mark! how’s the process coming along for you? I’m assuming you’ve already done the psych portion where you pretty much sit with a psychologist and they ask you a bunch of questions to gauge where you are mentally in regards to the potential stressors of this job.

Is there any benefit to paying for the academy or getting paid to do the academy what’s the difference between the to ?
@WhatLCSays4 жыл бұрын
I think getting paid to go to the academy is more beneficial for you since you've already been hired by the department you'll be working for so you're getting paid to go through training AND you're guaranteed a job when you graduate. Paying for the academy doesn't always guarantee that you'll be hired from what i understand, but I'm not 100% positive. For what it's worth, I would never pay to put myself through an academy.
