First Road Trip in our Skoolie, to Colorado Springs!

This was our real Maiden Voyage, the first true road trip in our Skoolie, from Southern Arizona to Colorado Springs! We put our engine to the test, as well as Mike"s driving skills! We did some fun sightseeing in Colorado Springs, but mostly spent time with Kerry's son, his wife, and our new grandbaby! On the way home, we put Mike to the test yet again, as we had to drive through snow and icy conditions for two days to get back to our home base! We'll show you our new location in the next video!

About Us:
Hi! We are Mike & Kerry, the proud owners of a 1992 Bluebird rear engine (pusher), 40' school bus! We named her Bussy McBusface in honor of the RRS Boaty McBoatface travesty!
We're building a Tiny-Home-in-a-Bus for full-time living in the most adventure-friendly way possible! In other words, Bussy will not be parked in our driveway, waiting for weekend or holiday getaways... when we finish the build, we'll be packing everything we're keeping into the bus and driving away from this old house forever!
We plan to be boondocking the majority of the time, so you'll see that reflected in our choices throughout the build (100 gallon water tank, composting toilet, solar power system, etc). We'd love to have you stick around and follow us on our journey, throughout the Skoolie Build, and to Infinite Adventures Beyond!

I started following you because of the bus, Found out you were in AZ, ( i was born and raised in AZ, 30 years). Now you take a trip to Co Sprgs, lived there 11yrs. I now live in South Dakota. Love seeing the places I know!!

I swear. When you showed the baby, I literally felt the special baby smell here with me. Must be a strong memory because my kids are 25 and 41 now .. And I've been a trucker for over 30 years but have never seen the ice star you had on the wheel. Great trip you made and I hope there will be many more. ☺️Oh, and the birds is a Magpie (Skata, in Swedich)

Great video. I lived in the springs for a number of years and had a lady friend that lived in Manitou. Unfortunately she passed about 10yrs ago and there wasn't anything left for me out there. It's a beautiful place. I'm glad you guys got time with family. Also glad you made it there and back safely. Stay Bussy!

I haven't had Indian Fry Bread since I was a kid living in AZ!!! Elephant ears at the fair just don't compare. I am surprised you all had the guts to drive on streets with that much compact snow/ice. I would have been such a chicken! But, in all reality, you have to see what you can and cannot do, so kudos to you for having the guts! Beautiful scenery and such a cute little town! Your grandson is so adorable!!! I was giggling and had the biggest cheesy grin watching him. I miss babies!! Maybe I will be a grandparent in a few years, we'll see.

Recommend winter window wash. Some Loves & TA/ Petro's sell some really good stuff. It's purple in color and doesn't freeze on the windshield when you use it while driving. It says on the label, it's good to -30°

How awesome. That little boy is the cutest. Oh my gosh, that smile, that laugh. Watching tv, so mesmerized. Not a bad maiden voyage. Where is all your air coming in from? Start up your generator and turn on your mini split. A fan might come in handy to circulate the heat.

Wow - this trip was SO much fun for all three of us to watch. We knew exactly where you grabbed your Subway sandwich and then sitting there at the light waiting to hit the freeway in Willcox. We know because we have made that journey to Colorado Springs three times! We kept saying... Hey, I recognize that! We enjoyed the Garden of the Gods. My Army son-in-law Gary and my other daughter (his sister-in-law) Nicole did those stairs you talked about while his wife and I stayed below with the babies. It was quite a sight to behold! Pike's Peak was amazing and the views in the pull-offs were amazing! Your little grandson is SO cute. I am sure it was hard to leave to come back home. I know it was hard for us to leave our family too. Thanks for taking us along on the trip!

Great times sounds like a truly awesome maiden voyage so happy for you and to see your children and your cutie pie grandson fun hard to leave that but you'll see them again soon I hope. Enjoyed the whole video the coin from pikes peak nice but a stone would have been what I grabbed but that's just me. Looks like the bus did great and the icicle spokes on the wheels that was cool. We’ve got magpies in Australia too, but I don’t think those are magpies...I think the bird’s tail is too long for it to be a magpie; it’s body isn’t thick enough either, even tho it’s colouring is the same as a magpie

That is a magpie. Our North America birds are more gracile than your Eurasian species. Colorado is in the southern reach of their range.

Wow I love this video! Your grandson is so ADORABLE! I'm a rockhound that makes jewelry, and I have a piece that I made out of Amazonite from Pike's Peak, Colorado. I didn't find these stones myself, but bought them from someone. Seeing this GORGEOUS place where it came from - thanks to you two, I think I'll be keeping it instead of selling it. :) This place is AMAZING! - pun intended! Oh what a life you live!

I love watching your video love when you went where you moved very beautiful place love the snow I'm from Tennessee about 5 miles from Tri City Airport and about five miles from the Bristol Motor Speedway. And by the way the little fireplace you can put you can get a little fan that goes on them that was distributed your Heat around the bus check on Amazon for one of them that will help you are with the heat situation especially in the winter time good thing you can cook all that stuff yes you can easy peasy. You need to get the air compressor and air system checked. Low air is a bad thing. Don’t pump air brakes keep water drained out of the air tanks frozen air valves is dangerous . In winter add a fuel additive to keep fuel from gelling up.

Get yourself some Rain-X if you want to keep that windshield clear of water and ice. Also, they have a fan contraption that you could put in the stove pipe. Different from the ones most people use that sits on top of the stove.
