@Yeshua is Lord. yeah, well I disagree. I'd like to start by saying I don't think that God designed sex just for procreating. Sex helps you develop a deeper bond with your significant other. And the clitoris doesn't seem to serve any function in reproduction. But it often times plays a big role in female orgasm. Clearly God made it that way for a reason bud. Let's also keep in mind that in the ancient world reproduction was much more important than it is in our modern times. So it would make sense for the people to focus more on reproduction. Now that that's established let's talk about homosexuality. Trying to bring in some historical context. There are plenty of old Biblical laws that we don't follow any more. Such as eating pork and having to go to the bathroom far away from camp. Furthermore, from what I can see a vast majority of the old laws existed primarily for health concerns. They weren't allowed to eat pork because no one knew how to properly prepare it, which brought health concerns. Pooping in or too close to camp can be hazardous, so that's why they pooped far from camp. Applying this idea to the chapters in Leviticus, I can see potential health concerns for having anal sex back then. I don't see any major health concerns with this modern day. In the chapters "against" it some scenarios describe incest and beastyality, I'm not an expert on either, however in incest the offspring may have defects so it's a health concern, and I'm pretty sure that there's some health concerns about beastyality, even if there isn't animals can't give consent like us humans practice so it's immoral in that way. A majority of the scenarios describe a form of sexual promiscuity so it is possible for the original text to say homosexual promiscuity rather than homosexuality itself. The topic of sexual promiscuity (having sex with someone else's partner) also brings in concerns of mental health along with the physical health of STDs (having sex with multiple people). Another piece of historical context. Is that prostitutes would hangout outside of temples and after people left the temples, some would hire these prostitutes for their services, and hiring male prostitutes lead to more health concerns than hiring a female prostitute. So it is believed by some more progressive Christians that the Bible isn't talking about being homosexual. But rather the health concerns they had for engaging with a male prostitute. This is another reason why it's possible that the original wording is actually talking about homosexual promiscuity rather than homosexuality itself. Another possible theory that is similar. Is that the verses are refering to abusive orgys that happened in some temples, and some of them had gay and lesbian sex. Let's discuss marriage. From my understanding marriages in biblical times (both old and new testament times) were much different than they are now. Marriages were arranged and seemed to exist primarily to expand the family (maybe even for financial or political reasons) and people generally married within their social circle (or tribe). In modern times though creating a family is certainly on the minds of many, many people primarily marry because of a more romantic kind of love (maybe this kind of love was created in some couples in Biblical times the point is that this love wasn't the goal or purpose of marriage). Homosexuality doesn't seem to serve the purposes of marriage back in Biblical times. Perhaps this is why the Bible doesn't condone it. Since in modern times marriage primarily happens because of a kind of romantic love, instead of expanding the family. Same-sex couples now are able to fulfill the purposes of marriage because they love each other. In my opinion I don't think that it's fair to not want a gay person to act on their sexuality and experience the same kind of beautiful love that heterosexual couples seek in marriage. Just because God specifically created the male-female to have the ability to reproduce, doesn't mean that the same-sex pairing isn't part of God's design. Homosexuality appears in other animals as well. This from my perspective indicates that homosexuality is a product of nature and serves a function for a species survival. I think this means that anything that occurs in nature is part of God's design. Because I don't think that animals sin so anything that happens in nature is allowed by God. I anticipate you might bring in some odd things that occur in nature. Like maybe the female praying mantas eating the males head after sex. My response to that counter argument is. Just because something occurs in one species doesn't mean that it occurs in another. Clearly that isn’t a function of human survival. I’d argue though that homosexuality is, simply because it occurs in humans, along with other animals in nature. Here's some food for thought, maybe we shouldn't take the Bible so literally. Seriously but not literally... there's a difference. Lastly I will not wager in on the pro choice vs pro life debate. I'm personally pro choice but I have a pretty good understanding of both sides and would prefer not to discuss the topic.
@esthernatashaegumbo4594 жыл бұрын
Why is that a good thing though?
@thesilverblader67144 жыл бұрын
@@bigbird254 that's a lot bro! But I'm saying the Lord sees homosexual relations as an abomination to him, and his first command to Adam and Eve was to be fruitful And multiply and fill the earth. The same commands of back then are still as true today as they were then. God does not change, he is the only one who remains the same and that we can rely on. Procreation is still important today as it was then, if we don't have enough children to replace a generation when it dies out the human race would go extinct. Also babies are human the moment they are conceived, they are not a fetus and will never be a fetus. They are human from the very start and killing them through abortion is equal to murder. People I hear cry out for women's right to choose, well she could have chosen not to have sex with the man she did and the baby wouldn't be concieved(basically if a woman is not prepared to be a mother she shouldn't have sex in the first place, cause that's only meant to be in the bonds of marriage anyway.) Back to the baby, he or she doesn't have a voice yet and can't speak to us to tell us that they do not want to be killed but want to live. So killing them is wrong. It's like saying when a relative is old and sick and can't speak because of it, well let's kill em. Also there are a lot of bad things that happen from anal sex, the anus is made for pooping not having sex, only the man and women's sexual parts are made for that. People who give into homosexual relations can get HIV and other bad stuff. This is all true including how God finds men having sex with men gross and women's babies being killed wrong. If you disagree you aren't really disagreeing with me but with God in heaven himself.

And the ironic thing is that Catholics are the first and original Christian's Catholic is just a Greek word for universal
@darrelslugoski6727 жыл бұрын
Yes we are and its 1000 % verifiable and factual and truthful . Read the first Christian elders , who went to their deaths in Rome for their Faith , knew the Original disciples , were ordained by them and find out if they were Baptists Lutherans , Presbyterians.................................................... or Catholic . Just Google Early Church Fathers writing and read for yourself. Even Martin Luther and Calvin read them but chose to ignore them.
@Me-ic3li7 жыл бұрын
Darrel Slugoski What about the Christians 50 years after Jesus' ascension? I doubt they called themselves Catholics. I think the most important thing is to be a Christian, the label isn't as important as the salvation, and a unified church would be much stronger than one that chooses to divide itself. We get so hung up on stuff, but if we just read the bible and chose to use only that as our instruction, we wouldn't have such ludicrously different theology.
@darrelslugoski6727 жыл бұрын
They did in fact they did call themselves Catholic Just read the early church Fathers . ( eg 107 AD St Ignatius '"wherever Jesus Christ is ,there is the Catholic Church ") These are the same bishops who went to their deaths for what they believed/interpretation of the bible . The evidence is there . We actually have statistically 55000 different denominations who claim that their interpretation/reading of the bible is correct . I don't need to lie , fact are facts . I am taught as a Catholic that you are fully Christian (heck you may even be holier than me) and I will address you as a brother not many Christians would give me the same respect as you have given me.. I suggest you read the writings of the first 300 years of early Christian writers (elders of the Church) and see if they were lutheran,Baptist ,presbyterian .................or Catholic in their Theology. Our Catholic Priests/Monks copied the bible from generation to generation , it was a Catholic Council in 397 which decided the final canon and it was these early monks and Bishops who wrote about the bible and how to interpret it . You can read them for yourself. The is not 555000 different interpretations of the bible ( denominations do even agree on the basics ) there can be only one truth/interpretation , if there is such a thing as truth. I will stick my lot with the early Christians and the Catholic. You won't believe me unless you read it them for yourself .Yes Salvation is the most important thing, but so is truth. May God bless you . All I am doing is challenging you not criticizing you . I dare you to read eather Catholicism and Fundamentalism by Karl Keating or go to Catholic Answers and see if we have a good defense .You may be surprised .
@Me-ic3li7 жыл бұрын
Darrel Slugoski I didn't mean to call you a liar. Thank you for correcting me on that point. I'm not going to make any promises about looking into that, but admire the fact that you have. I need to get versed in the scripture I have before going off on too many tangents. I haven't finished reading the bible I have yet. God will let me know what path I must walk down, he hasn't steered me wrong, the only times that I've been led astray were when I chose to ignore what he was telling me. And that difference in result is enough evidence for me that I do know what his voice sounds like and what a lie sounds like. He is the Truth, I need no more truth than him.

My best friend is Catholic, we both read the Bible and when we disagree on something we go to the Bible and agree again via humility. So much of the other things are traditions or things that need to be discussed or prayed about till revelation is had. No one should let their culture be an idol between them and God or others in the body of Christ. Unity to Christ is a command. That doesn't mean we are to compromise but we are to seek truth together. The other day I saw someone acting like "ALL" of the rosery was wrong. Well, that's ignorance even if you see parts that are concerning. It is GOOD, commanded, that the Lords prayer is part of it and that's how Jesus taught us to pray. Right? Also, there is scripture of what was said to Mary while she was alive. The issues are when people take it as a prayer to her now, "full of grace..." that was said to her in scripture while she was alive. It does say there is only one mediator between god and man and that is the man Jesus Christ. There is nothing wrong with giving honor or even remembrance to Mary, but, scripture makes it clear we are not to pray to Mary. I know many Catholics that eventually in seeking scripture come to that conclution no matter what they had been taught. If we do need someone as a mediator we have Jesus himself and the Holy Spirit. My friend does not pray to saints. Many Catholics see in scripture they are not to pray to those who have died and they don't. They may however offer up timeless prayers that they believe those who have passed on can hear with them and beyond that they do agree it becomes more about tradition than scripture. What is in scripture is that it's a promise that if you draw near to God, he will draw near to you. We can have our own relationship. Yes, we must all reject compromise and seek his ways and not our ways or the ways of our ancestors no matter how well meaning. Don't hear me saying all traditions are bad. I will totally get one of those candles, it is a little catholic but I saw them at the dollar tree the other day and I get the IN YOUR FACE reminder. LOL. I have found both my friend and I draw closer to God in direct prayer to God and scripture reading. We also draw nearer to each other and have unity to Christ when we humbly seek Christ and not our own assumptions on what the other must believe. Her and I even define words differently. I didn't read the other comments but I am so happy that part made you laugh: ) My Catholics friend's son came over to my house and upon seeing Jesus not on our cross he went to mass the next day and started telling EVERYONE, Jesus is alive!!! A cross, with or without Jesus on it, has the people looking at it knowing JESUS died for my sins but is ALIVE and there for me!!! That's what matters, the rest is learned in time. See John 3:16 & 17 Nothing wrong with meditating on scripture as Catholics have been encouraged to do. No group of people in the church or out has had it all correct, but God has only been good and by him we will find the truth and the truth really will set us free.
@joeterp56152 жыл бұрын
@@SRose-vp6ew God Bless you. As a Catholic however, let me try to help you understand a couple points regarding Catholic teaching, as well as why we have his body on the cross in our churches. First, regarding Mary. Let me ask you - do you believe in intercessory prayer? (i.e., do you ever ask for people to pray for you?). That is the best way to explain what praying to the saints is. When you ask people here on earth to pray for you, you are in no way diminishing the role of Christ. Same thing for asking those who have already gone to heaven before us to pray for us. Catholics believe in this larger sense of the Body of Christ, those here on earth and those in heaven. What a wonderful family! But Christ is the center of it all. The Catholic Mass is the prime example of this. Christ told us in the Bible that he would be with us until the end of time. Well, what does this mean - since Christ had a physical body? We celebrate the gift that Christ gave us at the Last Supper, when he told us, “This is my body, take and eat. Do this in remembrance of me.” So we fully accept what he told us in the Bible at this critical moment. Interesting how some people who accept the literal meaning of the scriptures in almost all other instances, assume this must have been figurative language by Christ in this one instance. For 2000 years we’ve been obeying this command of Christ. This also helps us to understand his promise in scripture to be with us until the end of time. It’s not just his spirit, or the Holy Spirit, or the scriptures… but literally his physical self is present in the Eucharist. Yes, this is not easy to accept. Just like it was not easy for people 2,000 years ago to accept that the man walking around with them was actually God. But what a beautiful reality! The Catholic Mass is not just something symbolic, it is making Christ one-time sacrifice of himself real and present to us again. And we are reminded to follow him and to take up our cross to as he commands us. We are asked to join with him and offer our lives as a sacrifice of love too.. This is why we have the body still on the cross - we view his salvific loving action and our needed response as ongoing. I realize that this teaching is not simple and does not really lend itself well to discussion in KZfaq comments. However, if you go the The Coming Home Network (comes up right away with a google search) you can read many stories of converts to the Catholic Church and their journey. Of course many had major doubts or had been told things about the church that they thought were unscriptural. Many were outright antagonistic about the Catholic Church, thinking it had completely lost its way over the millennia, that is was all just a bunch of nonsense with bells and smells. Google Scott Hahn for his story. He was a minister who converted along with his wife Kimberly. Please understand however, neither I nor the Catholic Church says you must be Catholic to get to heaven. We share the faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior with other Christians.. I also realize that Catholic theology may sound weird, foreign, and probably even preposterous to many who have been taught Christianity from a protestant perspective. I completely get that. I only suggest one thing: before making any claim about what the Catholic Church teaches… go to the source to find what it really teaches and why… rather than accepting what non-Catholics SAY the Catholic Church teaches. That’s what so many of the converts did - they actually started out wanting to show how unbiblical and wrong the Catholic Church was, then slowly (typically over a period of years after lots of prayer, reading, and some personal turmoil) coming to a different realization. Anyway, that’s all. Just wanted to help you understand Catholic teaching better on a couple things and give you something to consider. God Bless you.

Purely Pixels - The catholic church teaches very different beliefs, such as saying you have to go through the “priest” to talk to God, and to call the priest “Father”. This is not what Christ taught us. It is very much like a cult. You don’t need priests and “popes”. They even say the pope is infallible, which is a disgusting lie. Every person can speak directly to God, and have your own personal relationship with God. The catholic church basically keeps people in darkness, without the people even realizing it.
