I don't think Ser Joffrey was blackmailing Ser Criston. He just wanted them to be allies, since their loved ones were getting married. Ser Criston lost control and went crazy because his secret tryst with Rhaenyra was known to someone else.

The major time jump is needed because the actual main story starts when Rhaenyra becomes an adult and have children. There will be a whole new bunch of Targaryens and Velaryons. These children from both sides will be major players. It's gonna get darker and crazier..

The insinuation that Rhaenyra and Laenor were talking about race in that scene was wildly out of left field to me. Prior to recent history, race as a concept didn't exist, and it's hard to believe people's minds go there immediately. There has been no indication of race based prejudice within the entirety of the ASOIAF canon. Nevermind medieval history. Also maybe it's partially because I'm gay, but I was able to tell immediately what they were talking about. Not trying to 'cancel' anyone but it was just a wild assumption, and hard to believe that someone's mind jumps there so quickly.

What I thought about the Christen Cole situation seeing the many angles presented, is that the fact that Joffrey asked to keep their secrets quiet... but sad for Sir Cole, he done already confessed to the Queen which meant that keeping it a secret was out of his hands. OOF. allicent made quite the statement with that dress. a statement that will have LONG lasting affects on the seven kingdoms. her wearing the color of her house, house hightower, at a VALYRIAN wedding, and especially because she’s the queen. this was her basically saying “this is where my loyalties lie.” it’s amazing that the writers/producers can create such intensity in a scene with something as simple as the color of a dress.

Daemon is George RR Martin's favourite Targaryen. You guys surely know how much George loves grey characters. And there are plenty of those in Dance of the Dragons. This is really an interesting time in the history of Westeros and I'm glad we are getting an adaptation of it. It's also always interesting to watch a reaction to this story from people who don't know what happens in the source material. "Over the centuries, House Targaryen has produced both great men and monsters. Prince Daemon was both. In his day there was not a man so admired, so beloved, and so reviled in all Westeros. He was made of light and darkness in equal parts. To some he was a hero, to others the blackest of villains." I don't think the show did him justice, I think they leaned more into the dark part, but Matt Smith is perfect and he did the best he could with what he had. I wish they would keep the long hair here tho. Also I think you cannot really compare Joffrey and Cole, because Leanor loved Joffrey, but Rhaenyra does not think about C.Cole like that at all, she basically just "used" him and expected him to be there for her whenever, not really thinking about his feelings or if breaking the vows is a big deal. As a princess she is a bit spoiled, but I still love her. I will miss young Rhaenyra, the actress was great.

The idea that Cristan could do that like that and not have any consequences is terrible story telling in the long term . Laenor is the prince consort of dragonstone ,future king consort the idea that cristan could strike him and nth comes out of it leaves alot of holes. In the books it's a tournament that makes more sense. Cause how would laenor not have this man killed? And we know he doesn't but laenor is richer than alicent she might be the queen but she cant wage war on the velaryons they have a larger navy than house Hightower and they have dragons .and also alicent wouldn't wage war to avenge cristan she doesn't care about him. so I wonder what's the story they tell to patch that hole.

the situation with criston and joffrey just mostly speaks to how different they are as people. to joffrey, it was a mutually beneficial proposal because joffrey was willing to play the games and was willing to be laenor's secret lover. joffrey probably assumed that criston was the same as him and that he'd found in criston someone who would share a similar experience and they could look out for each other. little did ser joffrey know, ser criston was a fighter, not a game-player. criston never agreed to be rhaenyera's side piece, was honest and honored to a fault, wanted no part of their royal politics, and had been under tremendous guilt and depression. so of course joffrey's words came across as a thinly-veiled threat. dude had been chipping away, by rhaenyera, by alicent, by himself and joffrey was just the last straw that pushed him to the deep end. joffrey was incredibly unlucky, or stupid, to make that assumption about criston. but criston was too naive for this world. he thought he could be a white knight, elope with his princess and have a fairytale ending. I wouldn't be surprised if criston sides with alicent now. that shot at the end when he looked up as alicent called his name to see her in the moonlight, she effectively became his savior who woke him from his dream.

This wedding wasn't about Rhaenyra and Laenor at all. It wasn't about Daemon, Viserys, none of them. "One flesh, one heart...I am yours and you're mine. Whatever may come"...That was about the two tortured souls, united by fate, under that moonlit tree. It's them who were becoming one, until the bitter end.

Absolutely love y’alls channel. I thought it very telling that they had to move the wedding up to the same night as the violence. I think the whole hall saw how Laneor reacted to Joffrey’s death. Ser Criston’s violent outburst was sort of shocking. I don’t blame him though. Blackmail sucks. And I’m still team Daemon! He’s the reason why I am invested in this show. Great reactions and keep up the good work!

The ending montage was my favorite scene of the series so far. Give me the aesthetics of the red hue of the weirdwood tree glowing in twilight, give me the flickering lights, give me the gloomy ambience of a GoT wedding with an equally gloomy soundtrack & it’s A1! The slightly overlooked heartfelt exchange Otto & Alicent had at the beginning was the most significant moment of the episode imo, other than Viserys dropping. Otto is right. You either hope for Rhaenyra’s mercy in the future or you act now. It's the Tywin Jaime "we can establish a dynasty that last a thousand years" moment. The wedding sets up the first chess pieces for Dance of Dragons. *Rhaenyra and Laenor were being told their wedding vows, but it was Alicent and Criston who were getting “married”.*

I think Criston is this extremely scarred quiet guy, as per the previous episodes, trying to put up a good heart by becoming a kingsguard which he treasured more than his soul, but he realised his "love" only thinks of himself as a boy toy and he absolutely hate that thought and the destruction of his honor. He's also probably homophobic as a conservative Westerosi. All of these conflicts, plus what he saw with Daemon whede he realized Rhae only used him and actually love Daemon, pushed him to the edge so much. Its possible he jhst tried to defend Rhaenyra when Joffrey tried to intervene dae and rhae kissing scene but then he over punched himself because of all fhe trauma bottling ip.

Just wait until next episode.. Viserys isn't dead but probably wishes he was.

You seem to forget Criston doesn't even know his fate at the wedding. The Queen just sent him away, he might be thinking he'll be fucking castrated and executed right after the feast.
