It would have been hilarious if Bardeleben put his King on the hypothetical i8 square before leaving the table.

In my mind, I picture Steinitz not even looking at the board, just staring at von Bardeleben with a shit-eating grin on his face as he reaches for the rook again...

As I have said many times, after von Bardeleben played Ke8, Kf8, Kg8, Kh8, he wanted to move his King further to i8, but such a square does not exist in standard Chess... so he got up and went looking for it and never came back to the game. The truth hurts.

In one of Agadmator's vids about one of Garry Kasparov's defeats against Teimour Radjabov from 2003, he said Kasparov "pulled the Bardeleben" when he had a silent ragequit!

I like knight takes h7 too , then knight takes f6 forking black queen. If black queen d6, white queen just takes F6. Might have got this wrong but I am just an average Joe. Be kind.
