Well, the application works fine, but i agree it could use some improvements - I love the app but I HATE the rotary knobs, as I do on any app. There should be an option for linear knob control. Ability to record midi directly into the app from an external keyboard would also be great. Custom scales would be nice too.

Years on, still one of the essential midi apps on iOS, Fugue Machine is a multi-playhead delight. Here sequencing Speldosa (Klevgrand and Wintergatan) and Mersenne (iceWorks), with a little mild-mannered ring mod from Ringotron. I have done spoken walkthroughs on those last two apps. Here, for example, is my 35-min walkthrough on Mersenne: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e5akibVjyMfUk3U.html All apps here are AUv3, loaded as plugins inside the host app AUM on iPad.

@mirekkrejci4094 ah haha, it's a very basic aspect of FM synthesis so it is easy to learn about, I don't have a specific recommendation. Sound on Sound website probably has good articles on FM. Btw, KZfaq is not a good place to share links anyway, as YT often hides comments with links, it thinks they're spam 🤷‍♂️

Note btw - the reason the filter in the fx section was making no difference when I demoed it in the latter part of the vid was, of course, because it just acts on the delay. I also forgot to demo the loop length function in the arp. It will determine when the arp will loop back to the first note in a chord. Eg, if you set the arp to Up, and you are playing a chord with the notes C E and G. If you set loop length to 2, it will keep playing C E C E C E etc, it will never actually play the G. If you set loop length to 4, it will loop the following pattern: C E G C, C E G C, and so on. So this loop length feature can be very interesting to play with.

FM bells/plucks/mallets are some of my favorite sounds. I really like the the ones in the plucks & mallets pack on korg’s module pro, but the parameters available are limited on module pro. I might get this as it sounds great but looks more lightweight on cpu compared to Nambu.
@GavinskisTutorials
@GavinskisTutorials 2 күн бұрын
Yes, Module Pro has some nice sounds, not so much (for me) in the pianos and organs etc, but certainly in the synths. But it really spoils my enjoyment to a) not be able to tweak them much b) know that Korg could easily give access to the entire synth but have instead decided to go down the route of milking users by choosing to drip feed them IAP sound packs instead 🤷‍♂️

Hi good people! This is a 30-minute spoken walkthrough / tweaking demo / tutorial on Mersenne by iceWorks / iceGear, a lovely-sounding and very easy to program AUv3 synth for iPad, iPhone and M1 Macs or higher. It uses FM synthesis, optimized for the creation of bell-like sounds, with separate control of the attack and body sections of the FM tones. There is also a noise oscillator which, like the tone oscillators, can optionally be run through a resonator, and there are nice inbuilt FX and an excellent arpeggiator. Runs on iPad, iPhone, M1 Mac or higher (in a suitable AUv3 host). AppStore link can be found below. Edit, btw, Satoshi, the dev, gave me this reply when I asked him about the difference between the FM in this and another synth of his, Nambu: - The "Tone" section of Mersenne is an FM synthesizer with two modulators for one carrier operator. It is a Y-shaped 3-operator FM synthesizer. - Considering the strict waveform level differences between Mersenne and Nambu, I think it is very difficult to reproduce exactly the same sound. This is because the FM synthesis codes used are different. 🟧 Help keep this channel going, help me put bread on the table!: If buying desktop apps available on Plugin Boutique, you can support my channel by buying through the Plugin Boutique link below. @GavinskisTutorials
@GavinskisTutorials 3 күн бұрын
You can load 2 types of apps inside this - IAA (inter app audio) and AUv3. I don't know the 2nd app you mentioned, but Sequence is not either of these, so can't be loaded in AUM. This is not a limitation of AUM, it's a limitation of apps like Sequence. Generally you would want to buy AUv3 apps now, for better compatibility with modern host apps like AUM. It's a pity, many of the old apps which predated these systems were very interesting, making better use of the touchscreen than AUv3 apps, but sadly they are sometimes hard or impossible to use with other apps. Actually, I see that seaquence full version sends midi out. I don't have that IAP, so I can't be sure, but if you have the full version, you might be able to send the midi to AUM. I can't be sure. Good luck

This is a walkthrough of Caelum Audio’s new free app / plugin for desktop, iPad and iPhone, King Key. This is a continuation of Caelum’s annual tradition of releasing a free plugin on International Joke Day, following on from previous releases, Dustbin and Subscription Synth. King Key has some interesting sampled typewriter sounds, computer keyboard sounds and experimental-sounding drum kits. But the interesting-and not very intuitive, hence the usefulness of a walkthrough-part, is the modulation system in the FX section, allowing you to modulate filters, drive, bit depth, sample rate and reverb using various sources: envelopes, LFOs, aftertouch, mod wheel, key tracking and velocity. 🟧 Download links: Desktop: www.caelumaudio.com/CaelumAudio/?Page=KingKey iPad, iPhone: apps.apple.com/app/king-key/id6504887055 🟧 Here is a playlist of vids I have done on Caelum Audio apps: kzfaq.info/sun/PLl4Ittz8N8V9jUfvyKWC9q7jfxibDBHqT&si=ROsquI4FbsDB1WvK I made this video on iPad inside the host app AUM, here is my AUM walkthrough: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oq59ebyL3pO6gGQ.html 🟧 If buying desktop plugins, you can support my channel by buying through this Plugin Boutique link. In grand celebration of International Joke Day 2024, we at Caelum used our incredibly intelligent minds to bring you our first sampler; King Key. Gone are the days when you were left begging for high quality one-shot keyboard samples, now you can get King Key. Anywhere in the world you can now play the sounds of a keyboard, on your keyboard. We also blessed you with the sounds of a MIDI keyboard, a typewriter and 4 produced kits as our generosity knows no limits. Click, Clack, Svvvvt, B-ding, cha-cuh, fshhhh. With 9 instruments and 11 presets at your finger tips you can finally be the person your parents wanted you to be, a King Key one. Using proprietary high-detailed sampling techniques, which are sadly too complex for you to understand without demonstrative play-dough, we have captured the essence and spirit of a vintage Imperial typewriter, a Modal Cobalt8X and a Generic USB keyboard. We then took these beautiful, inspirational samples and produced them into some juicy, expressive kits for your pleasure. King Key is designed as an AUv3 plugin, meaning it works within iOS and iPadOS hosts such as Logic Pro, GarageBand, Cubasis 3, AUM and Beatmaker 3. King Key also works as a standalone instrument.
