🌩 fish are wild, right?! Every stargazer I caught, I'd thought I was snagged. I'd pull steady tension thinking I'd eventually break the line, and then feel them wiggle. They must have been buried when they hit. Good catches Jerry...stay safe! Don't let the lightning/stargazer combo turn you into a human fuse! Be well...tightest...

Does being enrolled in the marine fishing registry counts as a fishing permit in this area? I was watching this place and there's a sign saying that you need a fishing permit to be there. Sorry l'm not that familiar with permits and licenses in NY.
@FishYourWay2 күн бұрын
You will need both if your going to park in that area or park anywhere at night. You can park in the lot when you first pull in and walk down the road.

Hey Jerry!! Love the vid as usual. Have you tried the single jig head method yet? Your fellow KZfaqr Cooking and Fishing swears by it, and the results speak for themselves. It's supposed to keep the short to keeper ratio down as well. There is definitely a lot of technique to it. Would love to see you do a video on it. Keep it up brotha!!
@FishYourWay3 күн бұрын
I call that grubbing myself. Did a bunch video on grubbing and I use mostly in freshwater but heck yea great way to go about it. If working with a jighead I would think how the bass guys think in terms of bucktails, which is the same method as grubbing cept some hair rather then grub for the body. This method is how I would go about kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ep2lidB6z6udlIU.htmlsi=2yNh3YjhoHZKT6qH - I do like the big lead as it give some wayward freedom when covering water or landscape while battling heavy winds. But the singly leadhead grub combo is a awesome approach!

How's the walk to get there? Ive always wanted to go to this spot but my legs still healing from an injury
@FishYourWay3 күн бұрын
sand and/or rock you can go as far as you think you can handle be good therapy for your leg. I rehabbed leg, ankles, and foot injuries, a mix of broken bones, sprains and torn ligaments purely all in one and all with no professional help by walking on the sand. The sand gives so you can work or relax specific muscle groups on your legs. Do barefoot or wear krocs or sandals if needed. Just carry your own pace and don't overdue it.
@rumdab2 күн бұрын
@@FishYourWay Yeah, I've been told that walking on sand puts less pressure on my joints. It's been a year already, and it's on the stage of healing, so I didn't want to push it that much. Hopefully, I can make it to the end. It's been too long since I've last went fishing and I miss it lol

How do you keep an egg sinker on the bottom of the line
@FishYourWay3 күн бұрын
Great question as that was the main backdrop to the entire video. I just run the line through the hole and do a uni-knot and cinch tight until the knot had some dropback into the hole. Actually will run and avoid snags better then most sinkers. However I only used the egg because thats what I had on hand. Learning to fish with you have on hand is a huge part of learning to fish that will never end

Another great video! In these fluke and beach fishing videos with the vintage Daiwa spinning reel, what is your line preference (e.g., mono v. fluoro , weight rating, brand)? Thanks!
@FishYourWay3 күн бұрын
No preference really I can use about anything, but mono is nice most special for the high low rig. Braid works well too. 20lb mono works great as you just tie up the line no leader required. takes a good beating as well. Any brand is nice berkley stren pline all good with me. 15lb is actually optimal casting lures but for rigging 20lb much better
@Hegelmaus813 күн бұрын
@@FishYourWay Thank you so much!
@FishYourWay3 күн бұрын
@@Hegelmaus81 If you do decide to use braid on these type reel my best advice would be to go on the heavier side 40-80 pound, I would use 60 being most optiomal
@Hegelmaus813 күн бұрын
@@FishYourWay Thanks for your advice. I'm using a Penn Battle 2 5000 reel on a 9 foot Penn Squadron III rod, and I've always used 40-50 LB PowerPro, Spiderwire, or J-Braid. I'll upgrade to something heavier! :)
@FishYourWay3 күн бұрын
With your reel that line is perfect stay with it Id be using 40 on that sized reel its perfect. The roller on the daiwa I am using here is different so I prefer larger diameter braid, the roller on the battle will do 40lb braid greatly good best

I'm cheap and use 2.5 inch Gulp minnows for both fresh and salt water fish; flatties, crappies, pickerel, and other endless fish possibilities.

Loved the video, it`s a great start to the day. What is the spacing on your high low rig, fluke aren`t a big thing in Boston so I need to stack the deck if I hope for success. Peace and brother love to you and all.
@FishYourWay3 күн бұрын
Thats a great inquiry. I will do a wider spread at first maybe 18-24 inches. Fish till I snag. Take note if the fish are more so hitting the top or bottom until I hit that first snag. If more fish on top I will tie a few inches higher up, and if more fishes on the bottom, I will bring the top down.

I just love grubs. Some of the things I like about them are, they work on pretty much every species of fish, you can fish it in almost every way, lots of people don’t throw them so fish are typically not used to seeing them. And they are usually pretty dang cheap.
