Does using sunflower seed flour change the taste, color or texture of the dough? Is it a straight 1-1 substitution? I can't do nuts so lots of keto recipes exclude me and others like me, but I'm hesitant to try yet another flour and have things turn out dense, dark, oily or yukky tasting.
@JanetsDeliciousLowCarbKitchen18 сағат бұрын
@@terfalicious Sunflower seed flour is a one for one substitute for almond flour. Depending on how much chlorophyll the flour contains the baked goods can have a slight green tint. You can check out some of my other sunflower seed flour recipes to see the coloring. It also can have a slight sunflower seed taste. I don't mind it in most recipes. I add extra flavor extracts and dry seasonings/spices to balance the flavor if needed. This recipe will give you a little idea of the color of sunflower seed baked goods. janetsdeliciouslowcarbkitchen.com/easy-keto-pita-pockets/

Sunflower seeds are not nuts, but nuts and seeds share some properties. If a person has any doubts, they should speak with an allergist. Research from 2022 notes that sunflower seed allergy is rare, and people who are allergic to nuts usually tolerate sunflower seeds well.

I used cottage cheese and raspberries to fill my crepes. Great for diabetics too! My batch made 5 crepes so I made them up and refrigerated 2 for the next day. My husband loved them for breakfast. I will try savory next. What do you suggest for filling savory? Avocado and tomato? Hummus with yogurt? Thank you for such clear directions , simple ingredients, no nonsense presentations. In order to get a crisp texture it's best to let these sit on your cooling racks overnight so the coconut flour and monkfruit sweetener can fully dry.

Janet, do you think that adding some gelatin might add a bit of that bagel "chew"? I think I may try it out actually. I've yet to attempt bagels, but they've been sounding really good lately~ which is how I landed here. =) Plus, they are so fun to make sandwiches, burgers, pizza, etc. Good old toasted w/butter & cream cheese is my favorite, likely always will be. Also right there w/you on adding yeast to bread recipes, since it really does add a lot of flavor. As always, thanks so much for your clear, concise & delicious recipes!
