Thanks for the great videos. I appreciate you explaining why you chose the settings you do and not just clicking without explanations. I've been testing several NAS operating systems for file storage and backups of all my media. I have a question about xigmaNAS that's driving me crazy: why do I lose all my configuration settings when I reboot XigmaNAS? I've wasted a lot of time banging my head against the keyboard! The only info I could find was that leaving the USB drive with the install on it will cause that...not in my case. How do you save it and where do you save it. I literally did the same setup you did in the demo, except for 8x8 GB disk drives for data and 32GB of RAM. Cheers

I am not 100% sure, however if you are using a USB as you 'root' system, then you may need to make sure the device has been properly closed after making the changes. I used 'Fixed' 2.5" SSDs to make sure things are managed properly.

I have a question that didn't get answered since you don't have a high speed connection. I have Shaw/Rogers Ignite 1.5Gb internet service. The 8 Lan ports on the RT-AX89X seem to be only 1Gb capable even after changing the 10G base T port to Wan. Connect Shaw/Rogers modem into the 10G base T port and the PC RJ45 into the #1 Lan port. I get 1Gb internet speeds, 1.0-1.1Gbps. Do I need to Use the 10SFP+ as the WAN from the Shaw/Rogers modem and change the 10G base T into a Lan to the Computer? Cheers!
@PE4Doers
@PE4Doers 3 күн бұрын
You can use either one of the 10G interfaces for your ISP, then use the second one for your LAN. The only limitation on that would be if both your ISP and LAN interfaces require RJ-45 connectors, then you would need to add an SFP+ to RJ-45 Transceiver.

You should "NEVER-EVER" open 80 & 443 to your NVR you are just asking for issue. Instead use port 8000 udp only, it's a service port for the app. WAY more secure. Also isolate it on a different vlan with a rule to not hop from one network to another.

Jason, as it turns out neither 80 nor 443 are ports that the REOLINK NVR will respond to. Most likely it was needed in an older version of the Firmware. Thank you. I'm not surprised by the remote changing. I complained to them after the review that I was not very happy with its cryptic nature. Then when I they sent me the N1000 to review, they seemed to fix many of the issues I was having. I still use the N970 on my dining room PC (sort of the family computer used mostly for Zoom, Skype, etc. But we have it set for auto framing and lust let it do it's thing. I have the N1000 in my recording studio, where I use it mostly for Live Streaming, and the rare situation where I need a camera facing me while I do something on one of my two screens. In terms of my Mixer ( which is currently a low-end analog that is soon being replaced), I use mostly an XLR lapel Mic, and I have the applicable Channel set to 20% less 'High' frequencies, 'Mid-range' for the middle frequencies, and '20% higher' for the high frequencies. Setting up a mixer however is very trial-and-error, and I found after several sound tests that I was sounding too high pitched, so I trial numerous combinations before settling on my regular setting. I suspect I will have to re-tests once I replace my mixer with a higher-end digital unit.

Sort of - that extra current capability will provide up to four times the amount of power to the devices plugged in to the USB-C connectors. Even without it, power will be provided, but it's light a 'fast' charger rather than an 'average' charger, and can support full power to larger devices (like a small to medium sized laptop).

The software (including the Operating System) was custom created by that company. I really would appreciate you feed back. Thank you very much. Great video's btw
@PE4Doers
@PE4Doers 29 күн бұрын
Three things you need to ensure: 1) you will need SATA Power for the drive. You might be able to simply add a small power supply to your external hard drive, but the posses some risk depending on whether that power supply is meant to power SATA. I think you should invest in an external enclosure that support an eSATA drive (they cost between $25 and $40, depending on whether you want it to also support USB connections). 2) Is that drive you want to use a 'Security" drive (Green labelled usually)? Although any drive may work for a while, the massive number of continuous 'writes' of middle-sized snippets from the camera, would cause a drive not meant to handle that heat up quickly and continuously. I have read a article that you should only expect about half the usable life if not engineered for security systems. 3) The REOLINK disk controller on my unit only supports two drives at a maximum size or 6TB. You may have a newer mode that supports more, but you should double check that manual and the specifications for you system.
