r/entitledpeople OP's sister in law finds out that OP has a LOT of money due to her career and investments and demands that OP pay for her family vacation! After OP refuses to pay up, sister-in-law goes absolutely psycho and tells everyone in the family that OP is being selfish. This leads to the whole family becoming really entitled thinking that she'll pay for everything they want! Subscribe for future stories!

@@FoxyMomma4ever There's a great article on the internet somewhere. Some lady left some bird feeders on her porch. At first, the birds came and went. Then, they all moved in under the porch and started crapping everywhere. Then, they would get loud and noisy and dive bomb this woman when the feeders ran out. She ended up removing the feeders and her porch has never been more peaceful. Made me think of that.

I would tell some people. People I can trust. An if anyone started getting greedy, I'd just cut them out of my life. Part of the problem they made, was being super generous right from the start. Without even being like "Yo we didn't have to do this, but we thought it'd be nice to bless y'all. We can't really do this all the time or for everyone, but...we decided to do something nice for y'all" INstead it was more like "YOu didn't treat us the best and we're just giving money away to ALL family members. Because we can." If you let people think they CAN be Entitled, they WILL be entitled often times. Personally tho, when I dated a girl who had more money than me...I never tried to hit her up for money. I never just expected her to pay for all my meals. Anything she gave me I saw as a gift freely given, and NOT an entitlement. Surround yourself with the kind of people who care for People more than Money. Who know that you don't owe them your wealth.

People are ghouls. A story of many years ago....My mum's grandfather passed away. My mum the eldest of the family went to the grandfathers house to get his goods and chattels for lack of better words. All the ( or most of ) grandma's jewellery was already gone to the vultures, virtually overnight. The few pieces that were found including a pair of gold teardrop earrings ( very old ) that were left behind as one of the ghouls had given them the tooth test and found they were not solid gold. They left teeth marks in both earrings thus destroying them and threw them back in the box. To this day my mum still has them. Note: they were indeed quite valuable ( she had them valued for curiosity sake, value B4 the damage ) . The ghouls through their selfishness and ignorance discarded value. Those earrings are still stored safely away. Ain't Karma wonderful !!!

Had a friend come into money. I was there when it happened. I flat out told him don't let anyone know you have this, just spend only a little extra on yourself over time and no one will be the wiser. He didn't listen to me. Now, the two of us hung out in mostly different circles of friends, I was aquaintance level at best with a few of the circle he hung out with. He said it was no big deal, nothing would change with his close buds. Yeah...within a week his 'close buds' were asking him for money, by the end of a month he had to cut ties with all of them. His own family was haranging him for cash too. After 7-8 months he moved out of state, changes his numbers, didn't tell anyone about his new job, etc. The only one he still talks to is me and his sister, I was shocked to hear the two of us were the only people who never asked him for money. All this from what was honestly not a lot of money. He only found himself suddenly flushed with 'buy 3 houses' money. Which is what he did, one to live in, two to rent as supplementary income while his job generates his actual income. It is incredible how people are more like guppies than they would want to admit.

If they never give back my pencil, if they say honestly they forgot it. I will forgive them to give my spares pencils. But when they tells a lie like I did give you my pencil back. Seriously you can't lie in front of me like that. Sometimes generosity backfires, because it can make ppl envious of what you have. And when you give away a lot, ppl actually get the idea that you have no use for it. Envious ppl justify their demands all the time, because they would never understand why you would impose boundaries after being so generous. Best advice is to NEVER let anyone outside of your immediate family to know what you have. If they ask for help, never let them get the impression that money is no object

Enough to retire early and debt free. One morning, a nephew I hadn’t spoken to in years (and was never really close to) calls me at around 7 am - waking me and my husband up. Without any courtesies, he launches into how a major appliance broke and they need a new one and could we “lend” them the money (I know from other family they never pay back what they borrow). I said “no” and he replied “Well, just wanted to explore our options”. What? I have never been an “option”!

My dad told me as a kid, a millionaire lived down the street from him. The guy lived in a nicer mobile home and drove a Volkswagen. That was his life. What would I do if I’d won the money? Probably be very conservative. But, at the same time, remember you can’t take it with you. It’s still important to bless others. Just find discrete ways of doing so.

There was never there to begin with when you listen. They hated them. Had no sympathy. Right up until they had lots of money and then SUDDENLY "Oh yeah we need money. An since we decided to be nice to you now, you need to give us lots of it" It's greed at it's finest. The reason why so many wrongs are committed. When Love of Money > Love of People.

Not family but “friends” once thought they were entitled. I lived with my parents for 4 years saving most of my paycheck for a down payment on my first house. I rented a room out to a friend who needed a place to stay. Things were great for 2 years until he got a girlfriend. I can’t prove it but shortly after I told her that the house was mine, he stopped paying me rent. At the same time my boyfriend had gotten a better job and was helping me out with the bills. I have a feeling she put the idea in his head that since I was better off, he didn’t need to pay me. I evicted them. I do give him the tip off that he still owes me a lot of money, with interest. Warren Buffet one of the richest people on the planet. His daughter once asked her for some money to redo her kitchen. He told her to go to the bank and get a loan like everyone else. Bill Gates has said, each of his kids get $10 million and that’s it. Other rich people (Jackie Chan, Sting, Gordon Ramsay) have said they are leaving their children with nothing. Their children have to make it on their own.

Mistake #1 was paying all the college fees - that doesn't teach kids to be responsible. She started hanging out money and she built the entitlement tree. She taught them to expect it. It wasn't the money, it was how she handled all of this - a real lack of wisdom. I had a neighbour who got trapped in this after he won $14 million on the lottery. He and his wife moved across country to get away from the relatives and moved in next door. If I won, I would tell no one: I would move.

She feels bad that she isn’t standing out for them, but she needs to remember, that they dont stand out for her, before or after. And while being the better person is being above that, it also means not letting them get their way and destroy you. They are no longer family, for they removed themselves when they stopped treating you as family, and instead as gold enriched dirt.

This is why when you win the lottery or otherwise come into a lot a wealth, you hire a CPA immediately and file that shit away into trust funds. For only the people you trust the most. Don't tell anyone about it and live life the way you want to. Money brings out the worst in people around it.

The first story: I must say you are an awesome woman and human being. To do all that you, and to have so much love for your family. I am 1000% sure you did the right thing. Sil and hubby were so ungrateful, however her children were great! Even your own hubby supports you and knows it's your money, that alone makes you a truly BLESSED person. Don't worry about SIL and her hubby, they will learn from this or they won't. As for you and your hubby...you both rock!!! The very fact that you care enough to give what you did was so sweet. Just because two entitled and ungrateful people don't know when to shut up is not your problem. Stay as humble as you are and stay safe!!!

This reminds me of stories you hear about in places with heavy starvation. Some group shows up and helps feed as many as they can and the people are grateful. Before long the people are no longer grateful, instead they complain the food they are being given isnt what they want or its not enough. The people no longer thank the group for helping them but now consider it the groups responsibility to give them the food they deserve. Theres the old saying; Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he can eat for a lifetime. Its wrong, it should read; Give a man a fish and he will be back with his friends tomorrow for more fish. Try to teach a man to fish and he will complain that you should just give him some fish. Better yet just give him money, then he can get fish, beer and cigarettes. He then hints about borrowing your car for a few days

No, you've got it wrong. It goes like this - give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he'll spend the rest of his life bobbing about on a boat with his mates drinking beer.

For the family members who helped, they deserve to have money put back in their pockets. They sowed in some good deeds when everyone else was abandoning them. Unfortunately, most of the family were cold hearted greedy people. Unwiling to help them out or even give them a loan. There are people that you CAN trust. For instance, I never act entilted with other people's money. I look at it as a gift that I should be thankful for. Even when I had a GF who ahd more money than me, I NEVER expected her to pay for ALL my stuff. Sometimes she'd buy me food or coffee, other times I was paying for it. I never complained the times I was the one paying either. All I tell people is, "If you come into some money i'd ask you at least buy meals when we're together and a nice gift for my Birthday and Christmas. I don't need or expect you to just toss a bunch of money." An in terms of a nice gift, it could be a brand new computer, rather than a brand new car for insance. It's open as to how "Nice" is defined. For some of us, we prefer people to money. Money is nice and all but...I get more out of people than possessions.
