You and I are going to drink a lot of coffee together. Like, borderline dangerous amounts of coffee.
So, first things first. Pour yourself a mug and I’ll introduce myself real quick.
My name’s Jordan - but everyone calls me “J” - and I’m a 27th degree black belt in chugging coffee.
I’m also strength & nutrition coach, I hold several powerlifting world records, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have my writing featured in a variety of outlets like CNN, the Huffington Post, and Schwarzenegger.com.
But listen.
This channel isn’t for fame, publicity, cash, props, fist bumps, likes, pings, pows or whatever else there is.
It’s a place where you and I can chat.
I’ll never sugar coat, lie, or beat around the bush. I’ll tell you everything exactly as I see it. Some stuff you might like. Others you might not.
And that’s totally cool.
Either way, my goal here is to create a discussion. A place where you and I can get together, exchange ideas, and motivate each other to be better every day.
Like I said, we’re gonna drink a lot of coffee together - borderline dangerous amounts - but I’m excited. Because there aren’t too many online communities in which the sole purpose is to inspire and motivate one another.
And that’s exactly what you and I are going to do here.
To your success,
-J

The "over a year" part was crucial. Everyone assumes actors go from slim to jacked in one summer before a role like this. There's no shortcut to fierce hard work.

He was a podcast recently and spoke about this film and prep, but he also casually mentioned a bunch about just his "regular" life and how much fitness is part of his basic day to day--he is an avid cyclist, travels to distance parts of the world to bike with very serious athletes. He is a climber. He is into strength and mobility training. So his foundation to step up to this level of training and activity was already there. Add in his discipline, consistency, and nutrition to the extra training and voila. So much work, such good analysis to help us parse out how day to day folks with jobs and middle class incomes can approach the reality of fitness goals. ❤

He's been in great shape in southpaw and prince of persia. The muscle memory is definitely good and he has a whole team dedicated to helping him look like this. Huge fan of Jake and great breakdown Jordan!

I liked your breakdown of that video. I think it was great that you gave his coach credit for knowing what he was doing and talking about. Really eye opening to see what actors have to go through some times for a role and to be reminded that it is only possible to get their results because of the team and time they have. Great job!

Love this. I appreciate how unbiased you are in reviewing things. So many trainers feel the need to tear others down. You prop people up when deserved and don't when they factually don't, not when the whim strikes you and you feel threatened. 👏🏼👏🏼

Probably one of my favorite videos of yours! So much of what is shown on social media is filtered, photoshopped - not to mention the very unsustainable ways body building is for 99% of people. Thank you for this!

This was so insightful! When I first got into fitness, there wasn’t much talk about what it truly takes to be shredded like this. There was almost a mindset of “you’re lazy if you’re not seeing these results.” No real talk about sustainability. Thank you, coach for helping to show a more realistic view!

Great video! Love the “not sustainable “ comment. I saw Jake being asked in an interview if he kept up this training regimen after the film, and he just said, no. He was done. 😊

I love the way you point out what is effective for him, effective for everyone. And yeah some stuff sounds a little overplayed too but mainly honest and overall the guy knew how to get results! In particular, most of us aren’t trying to be professional boxers (or actors). LOL at: Is it primitive? “It’s just a fuckin squat” 😂

The coach seems to be using the word "primitive" to indicate a movement that would/should be used regularly throughout daily activity. Just my opinion...that's what it sounds like to me. Great Video J!! Appreciate you breaking it down for us!

I appreciate this video so much! So much of the discourse is about women's bodies and how they should or should not look, but the men get left behind. There has been a lot more dialogue about this of late, but this video is a great reminder. To the female viewers...your man is not going to ever be able to be as jacked as what you see on tv (if you like men, and like that look). To the male viewers... just go to the gym, work hard, and get to a healthy place. Aesthetics have their place, but most can't achieve what media portrays as "normal," and desirable. I am certain you are smokin' hot just as is :-)

Can’t wait to show this to my husband because his first words were steroids. I agree with you and regardless he still had to put in the work. Hand grip strength, what are your thoughts that? Being 55 and getting older I feel that it’s important because we lose that as we age. What do you recommend. Always look forward to your content.

I mean it’s kind of unfair to say it’s unsustainable when all you have to do is workout all day every day and have a full team to support you and for the last part, just never get older. Seems so easy, even primitive moves will get you there :)

Great analysis. Btw not trying to brag but I have a very similar physique to Jake, I’m even most likely a tad leaner, and I’m able to maintain it year round through doing intermittent fasting and training hard 5-7x per week. I don’t get paid for my physique, yet I’m still motivated and determined to stay jacked and shredded year round. Anyone can do it if you want it bad enough.
