Another suggestion that's even smaller than the barbell jack is a Dead Wedge. You could put one in a pocket and it helps with all but the first plate.

I have a weight shelf for stacking my plates and dumbells. It allows me to keep the area tidy and keeps things off the floor allowing me to sweep up dust and spiders. It was one of the best additions I have bought. Also knee wraps are high on the list. I'm 45 and aching knees are no joke.

Thanks @kickinthegob. As you can see from my video, my stuff lives on the floor and it can be quite an effort getting to some of it at times (as well as a bit dangerous)! A shelf would be awesome-I've just cleared another are of the garage, so a shelf might be on the cards! Knee wraps and sleeves are an excellent shout too (I do have some of those). Keep up the good fight in your gym!

@@phillip.ingham Thanks Phil, you too. My shelf is a rolling setup with a rack for the weight plates below and a shelf for my adjustable dumbells on top. It's about 7 foot long and I can rack about 600 kg of weights on it. There are different types but I recommend getting one that has sufficient space that you don't have to un-rack weights to get to what you want. It's a time and sanity sanity saver.

How can you compare something that you've never used? (Whoop I mean)

Thanks for comment. I can't compare the experience that is for sure, I was interested to see if the metrics offered by both were in any way comparable, and they seem to be. For some one who has neither and is trying to decide it might be useful to know.

To be fair, the annual subscription of Whoop includes the device (and gets you new versions of the devices as they are released). If you compare prices of each, you’ll need to include the cost of the Apple Watch too over a specific period of time.
@phillip.ingham

@@phillip.ingham I've used them both. Whoop is actually giving away the Strap and a band for new members (Has been for at least 2 years). But @mookie, I never thought about adding the cost of the Watch to the Athyltic app cost structure, but that's a good point - So could vary I guess. I will say though, that you wouldn't buy an Apple Watch for the Athyltic app - so that argument falls apart pretty quickly the more I think about it. Having used them both, I'd say I like a device that is specifically paired to their own app (Whoop Strap to Whoop App). I also liked having something on my other wrist. I like the interface better too. Last thing I'll say is my metrics variance between the Whoop Strap and the Apple watch is pretty significant. So...I don't know who is right, but there are major differences in the data (specifically with sleep).
@k0sumkind356
@k0sumkind356 4 күн бұрын
Well. You can use an Apple watch for 4-5 years. So Whoop is priced like an AWU (in Europe) but you can get the AWU probably for a cheaper price.

Does it connect with an Oura ring?
@phillip.ingham
@phillip.ingham 7 ай бұрын
As far as I know, the oura ring doesn'f connect to specific apps directly, but if both are connected to, say the Health app, on iOS, then the data sources could be shared between oura and carbon, if those parameters have been set up by the developers. I don't have an oura ring, so I can't test this for you.

I do wish everyone took advantage of that feature, that Apple introduced to their developers, especially when there is such a large financial commitment. I just checked the CARBON website to see if there was an update to this, but alas, still no mention of a 7-day free trial www.joincarbon.com/pricing You may want to look at Macrofactor macrofactorapp.com/ which offers a 7-day free trial. It has very similar feature and UI to Carbon. You can also extend to a 14-day trial with one of their affiliate links macrofactorapp.com/affiliate-codes/

@nFrizz_

Tbf he also does workout plans for like £15 which are pretty good. I think this app is pretty neat because it combines a few factors (i.e,. current levels, idea frequencies, etc) to deliver a personalised training programme. Most programmes delivered by apps that I've used before are just preset blocks of random exercises that target different muscle groups, whereas this is based on a scientific approach and an algorithm which tailors to the individual.

Hiya, I’m Fahad, I co-founded this app with Joe and am the developer and designer. Just wanted to drop a line, someone sent me this video and I’m pretty happy to see you’ve found it useful. I solo built this over the course of 2 years and the app has been updated quite a bit since this video. We’ve both put a lot of thought and are continuing to update it with some big plans for 2023. Hope you stick with us throughout. Genuinely flattered by the review mate, nice one 😅

Well hello. I do love the app and it continues to be the one I use every time I step into the gym. As a software developer myself (industrial not apps) I could see as soon as I opened it that a lot of thought and hard work had gone into the design and execution. I've tried a few exercise trackers in the last year and this one really sat well with me and I'm truly grateful that you and Joe were able to produce it. Thanks for the comment

Can you set it to use dumbbells/bands etc. I don't have access to a gym/cables/bar/squat rack?
@phillip.ingham
@phillip.ingham Жыл бұрын
@@NB-568 You can swap out any of the exercises in the program. The suggested replacements are filtered based on the exercise you're swapping out, so you won't get some random replacement for biceps when you're trying to swap out a barbell chest press. There is normally a couple of dumbbell based ones as alternatives though. Another option I did during lockdown (albeit in another app) was to just know that if it gave me a barbell chest press, as long as I did some kind of chest press with what I had, i was on the right track
