Blizzard can't even remake classic good. No push for Wpvp and the same thing they've always done. Push more dungeons, raids, and BGs that aren't even needed.

@Nobody-dc8dp Exactly. They aren't working on classic. They have a bare bones team squeezing the rest of the juice from that fruit while the majority works on something bigger. I believe the trilogy of expansions they announced will end the current azeroth and set the stage for a new journey.

Its allways the same.. An Engine is not a fixxed thing you know ? initially yes the Engine can do some stuff wich it is programmed to do some better some worse some not at all but in Developement most Engines get changed to the needs of the respective Games. Just a quick look to Star Citizen should be enough to explain that, their Star Engine is way more Capable now than the original Engine ever was for those specific things even not beeing able to do much of it. Same is happening with Ashes and every other Big Developers especially when there are systems wich where not there before since they needed to modify the Engines and Server Tech to appoint for these new Features. // Server Meshing is a relatively new tech for Games and still not working its kinda in developement this very moment so saying this is the first thing they should have done is just stupid cause wolrd building classes quests ingame systems all is doable and all that is worked on. Implimenting dynamic Server Meshing may be a big step but once the structure of all the stuff wich needs it is done its fine. All what really needs to be added there is the actual player interactions with eachother and the world aka npc's enemies, ressources and evnviromental stuff like interacting with rocks doors etc. All other static stuff most likely is pretty easy and does not need any Server meshing at all cause there is no interaction at all and all client side. Player placed stuff of course will be added. (at least thats my thinking behind all that) If at all its a green flag cause now the Game has tech behind wich can make massive Battles possible without any lag. And every real mmo player knows all those mass player battles on battleground event like stuff where there is just a big chaos going on and you do notice all the micro lags but its so much that its just the normal gameplay in a big battle.. it will be crazy to first time have such battles completely fluid i could imagine it like the jump from 30 to 60fps maybe ^^. Also do not forget the NPC's they litterally could spawn a whole army of npc enemys and let them wander to a city raid - servers would split the load each handling a few hundreds and it could litterally be a massive battle without any lag, at least serverside. (Client's Pc configuration is another thing with internet connection then the only limiting factors. Edit: I need to add to that last sentence that Server Lag is an issue too but even the shadow lag from lets say for example Planetside 2 wich has some very strong ghosting sometimes is just fine cause we will play a mmo and not a shooter. Also that game is very old and i guess the lag would be a good bit reduced maybe not even feelable if the meshing is done right nowadays since you will allways or mostly only be connected to 1 server at a time with good latency cause loads would dynamicaly change so yeah there should be less lag overall in that regard vs a server nowadays handling too much at the same time even sometimes crashing the whole gameserver cause in a battle where too much players and i expierienced that many many times waiting in a Serverlist for it to reappar and join back with all hundreds of players just to get back into the lagfest fight till it ends. xD it was a good time ~ (example from Archeage back then)

They switched from ue4 a while ago and knew / came to realize a long time ago that ue5 couldn’t at its base maintain a mmo at this scale so they’ve been working on custom ue5 tools for a long time. There’s actually a couple of MMOs attempting to work or already working in ue5. However they utilize more traditional methods to combat limitations of ue5 such as sharding

I need to add anothher thing i just rewatched the livestream and Steven in fact says that they where working on Server Meshing for years now and that It is in the Game, how finished it is i dont know but we will see (alpha 2 is around the corner) ^^

@@Nevoras I use unreal engine 5 for a small multiplayer test project. Your statements are way too general, so it seems to me that you never touched the engine and just repeat talking points that you picked up.

Also i try to be general cause most people have no deep insight into server architecture databases and engines at all wich seems not the case for you. Despise that my points stand. Also as i just confirmed they seem to be working on it for a longer while now and not just started wich should kinda elevate your red flag to at least a yellow. Also while you state that the replication issues are unique to unreal other engines have not really delved into the server meshing too so they will have kinda the same problems while layering and sharding is quite known nowadays. In the end i think its just a factor of time like it allways was with some newer approaches to solve problems and i think the recent server Meshing approaches for games like Ashes and Star Citizen are quite a good start.
