you are still making a video right?? Please don't quit bro

Not planning on quitting, making videos has just had to take a backseat for a few months due to life getting in the way - looking forward to being able to get back to making stuff! :)

I think the let's play you talked about not being able to identify (if you haven't found it already) is "Let's Play Minecraft Multiplayer" uploaded by Kwantonium, where he and his friend Lordpitt played through Minecraft from alpha to release version. Building a two-floored wooden house, separated by a tube with a ladder, high up on a hill matches exactly with the first couple episodes of that let's play. That LP was what got me into Minecraft, too. Before I had the chance to play it in early-to-mid 2011, I watched their lets play instead. I still go back to it from time to time.
@texticksКүн бұрын
Damn, just scrolled through the comments and saw that someone already pointed out that it was probably their LP. My bad :P Great video though, your points were really well thought out and I completely agree with them!
@T1nkКүн бұрын
Yes it was that one! Thank you regardless of if somebody said it first, it is really cool that you both understood my description and knew the series I was talking about! I have such distinct memories of watching through that series and it’s really cool to hear that others had that same experience :) Also thank you so much!

One of my favorite ways to mod Minecraft is just the texture packs. From halloween to MS paint garbage to all the old alpha textures, I love changing up the look of the game. I unironically stuck with MS paint for a long time because the dogshit look of everything was so silly and hilarious.

I hated bedrock at first but now I love it I've been playing since 2013 on the Xbox 360 and when bedrock first came out I hated it. It was buggy and bad but now I enjoy it and I've made so many memories with my friends during covid and everything so I appreciate it

i dont really get some people's obsession with beta 1.7.3, or why it's seemingly garnered this small cult following out of the blue. im much more interested in playing release 1.7.10. it's the version i grew up playing and watching minecraft based content on youtube of. it's not bloated or overly complicated like newer releases, but not as anemic as beta. loaded up a new world a few weeks ago and have been having a ton of fun gathering materials and building the stuff i want, but i don't necessarily feel compelled by the game to follow the standard, predetermined path either. on a somewhat unrelated note, ive also never understood others' unrelenting desire for exp farms or automation. stuff's kinda lame.

The ond game isn't better. The new game isn't better. It's down to preference! If you like a simple game, play old versions! If you like new features and amazing mods, play on new versions! Minecraft doesn't _have to_ please everyone with every update, and the nice thing is that you can play whatever version you want! (Unless you're on Bedrock...)

I'm so sick of hearing "yOu cAn bEaT tHe gAmE iN iRoN ArMoUR!1!1", because that isn't true anymore. For progression, you need to push through the nether in rich armour, lose it, spend an hour building more armour, be more precautious, get lost in the Nether, get oppressed out of fortresses by OP withered skeletons and blazes, finally escape with a blaze rod, make potions, quit. I have never progressed past Blaze Rods because everything becomes a mega grind, which is why I regard Minecraft as a 6/10. Then there's Deep Darks and the Warden that annoy me, and the only way I've managed to progress *is by starting exploited Villager Farms.* Other minor annoyances include: over-abundance of water caves, snow biomes are death traps, deep darks are far too big and I vastly prefer older intertwining caves and ravines, mob spawn in the deep dark is stupidly high, creepers sometimes bug out and one-shot you in full armour, wheat gathering is torture, etc.

@shikouji16 күн бұрын
easy answer to your question, if vanilla was better, no one would mod the game. the moment people could mod they made the game less simple. if anything mods ruined the game for me. i only play retail no mods, i get super excited for each update any content added is good. mods are fantastic, but they were the killer of simplicity.
@au_mln17 күн бұрын
Simplicity of old Minecraft sucks. Just go to the End, which haven't been updated and you'll see how BORING it is. Without nostalgia bias you wouldn't even consider playing older versions because they are EMPTY

Criticism of the tutorial is a bit stupid. If you were new to the game you would have literally not a clue how to get anywhere past building a dirt hut. Those pop ups stop after getting a crafting table which you conveniently left out.

Minecraft lost it's soul when Notch left. It took a long time for the body to die after it lost it's soul, but it inevitably did.

I find this video really funny because to me, trails and tales feels exactly like an update that would've been added in earlier versions of Minecraft. A new forest biome with pretty building blocks, variants of existing blocks like hanging signs and bamboo wood, pots for decoration, armor trims, just stuff meant purely to expand the tools in your sandbox. The motivation to use these blocks (much like the stuff added in earlier versions) is almost purely self-defined. However, this update was widely criticized for that exact reason. I feel like mojang is in the middle of a tug of war with a community that feels like either too much is being added or too little is being added (some may say both, idk why lol). It's not surprising, they're literally the biggest game in the world with a largely diverse audience. You can't really expect this game to please everyone forever. Considering mojang has said they plan on supporting the game for at least 50 years (maybe even 100), I think Minecraft is just a game that will only continue to get more complex so players will stay excited in the long run. I wonder if they will consider now to be the "simple days" lol

For me the newest version of xbox 360 edition (TU 74) is my favorite. It has plenty of items to explore and build with, but not too many to the point where it is overwhelming. It is only 20 dollars if you want to buy it of of the 360 store.

I see it completely differently. The core of the game, the simplicity, is still present in the latest version. It depends entirely on the player to what extent they use the complexity of modern Minecraft. It is not a must. If you're playing 1.7, you can play 1.20 the nearly same way and maybe take advantage of a new feature you stumble upon. Just build something without a goal, without an ender dragon and without full netherite gear. These are nothing more than options. Always getting the most out of it is probably a problem of modern gaming culture. Play single player or find a community that covers your interests and just have fun. It's that simple.

are there any modern pixel games as detailed as the original DK country series?

I wish you would've let us hear all of the examples of the mentioned songs (like you awesomely did for Mario Galaxy); having to literally take notes of multiple things to look up, or leaving the video to go look them up one at a time, coming back, looking up the next thing, etc is pretty frustrating. A shame, because your video itself is SO good. Very well thought-out, edited, written, & narrated. That's such an important point, that music is outright expected in most games nowadays, & definitely is a crucial part of the experience.

“you can always boot it up and play it like you used to” wrong. just so so so so so so wrong. the nostalgia “old minecraft” content sphere is so fixated on the single player experience when talking about the ability to access older versions, when many of the changes impacted multiplayer in massive ways. The combat update completely killed the PvP scene, adds to that needless complexity that was touched on before, and was solely done for PvE gains. just destroyed a once huge part of MC community that was developing into a potential esport, and it has never gotten the deep dive it deserved
@oppa.24Ай бұрын
For everything you like about MC there is a community that fits your interests. I am sure there is a community where you can play PvP like you used to.

I definitely appreciate good sound design in games. Even just simply menu sound effects can greatly contribute to (or ruin) the atmosphere of a game. A fantastic example of doing it right is "Darkest Dungeon". Sound effects during attacks, round & turn advancement, status effect notifications, & even just selecting & confirming commands from the menu, all carry heavy weight & keep the flow of darkness & fear going. It fits perfectly with the horrific (as in 'full of horror') music too. There are other games where the menu sounds are annoying, or hit really bad discord with the music, creating negative feelings where they should be more positive. Cases like that always tell me that they underestimated the need for a dedicated sound designer, or good sound direction. Perhaps just using stock sound effects temporarily, then when running out of time they decided it was "good enough" & they got used to it so they left it in. Or just not caring cuz the game was just a cash grab anyway. A consistent overall sound palette is just as important as choosing color palettes & a cohesive visual style.

My younger brother commented on how I focused more on my base and "only" had iron armor while not getting enchants and stuff. I don't ever go kill the enderdragon and I still have never met the guy from the deep dark (i've heard him tho). My brother has done all these things. It's interesting because I started playing on or around Beta 1.5? And we both got our official accounts in 2012 (the beta acc was my cousin's). There's almost a "cultural gap" between us which is weird to me because I didn't notice it until this video!
